This position plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of client health records across the organization. Working under the direction of the HIM Supervisor, the Health Information Specialist supports the management of electronic and physical health records by reviewing documentation, processing records requests, maintaining compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards, and assisting staff with health information procedures and documentation requirements. Compliance and Documentation Support * Assist with compliance reviews, licensing audits, and payer documentation requirements. * Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 standards. * Provide consultation and guidance to staff regarding documentation requirements and record procedures. * Maintain accurate records and support overall agency compliance efforts. * Participate in special projects related to records management, quality improvement, and data integrity.
