Bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical, environmental, energy, automation engineering, information systems, computer engineering, or related technical field and 8 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Demonstrated expertise in design, maintenance, and operation of building automation systems, including programming tools and languages, arcnet, ethernet, TCP/IP networks, wireless communication, server environments, databases, virtualization, and cloud-hosted platforms. 3. Demonstrated experience collaborating with IT organizations on network architecture, cybersecurity, server management, and enterprise software systems. 4. Experience leading or directing technical teams in a cross-functional environment. 5. Understanding of cybersecurity best practices, system hardening, access control, and risk mitigation within operational technology (OT) environments. 6. General understanding of building mechanical system design and operation including heat exchange, pumping, steam heating, HVAC, radiant systems, humidification/dehumidification, and mechanical metering. 7. General understanding of building electrical system design and operation including lighting, emergency and alternative power, and electrical metering. 8. Knowledge of commissioning processes from formulation through turnover, including verification of controls integration, server configuration, and data performance validation. 9. Enthusiastic willingness to learn and adapt over time, contribute to and benefit from team environment, and stay informed on evolving industry best practices in automation, data systems, cybersecurity, and energy management. 10. Demonstrated commitment to energy management, climate action, and continuous improvement of building systems. 11. Well-developed analytical and systems-level thinking skills. 12. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to translate technical IT concepts for non-technical audiences. 13. Strong problem-solving skills across both operational and IT domains. 14. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders. 15. Ability to establish strong working relationships across Facilities, ITS, academic departments, and external partners. 16. Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Excel analytics, database tools, CAD, and familiarity with server and network management environments. 17. Ability to adapt independently to changing technical priorities and emerging technical requirements and tools. 18. Professionalism, strong judgment, and adherence to ethical and security standards. 19. Ability to independently manage multiple complex technical assignments and deadlines., Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of eight years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. ## Description 1. Define enterprise standards and requirements design, maintenance, and operation of building automation systems and network on three campuses, and oversee daily management of the building automation systems, including JCI, Siemens, ALC, and Tridium systems. Ensure alignment with University IT policies, infrastructure standards, and cybersecurity protocols. 2. Serve as the primary point of contact for Yale IT regarding all building automation-related network, server, cloud-hosted services, storage, virtualization, and cybersecurity matters. Collaborate on: * Network architecture and segmentation * Firewall and security configurations * Server provisioning and lifecycle management * Back-up, disaster recovery, and redundancy strategies * Patch management and vulnerability mitigation * Identity management and user access controls 3. Provide technical specifications, system documentation and training to IT to facilitate ongoing collaboration and enterprise planning. 4. Establish and enforce governance process to ensure long-term building automation system integrity, including: * Server architecture documentation * Software library and version control * Programming logic archives * Data storage and retention standards * Graphical interface standards * Point naming conventions Role-based user access and authentication * Change management and audit tracking 5. Lead and coordinate a technical team composed of internal staff, vendors, integrators, and consultants responsible for controls infrastructure, server environments, and networked building systems. Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and direction to ensure high performance, professional growth, and alignment with University standards. Foster a collaborative, data-driven culture centered on continuous improvement and operational excellence. Directly manage building automation & data systems analysts. 6. Administer annual software service agreements and enterprise licensing for building automation platforms, including planned upgrades, system enhancements, firmware updates, cybersecurity scans, and technical support services. Convene regular scheduled meetings with building automation vendors and technical stakeholders to review campus-wide administrative and infrastructure matters including active and planned projects, lifecycle planning, integration challenges, emerging technologies and digital innovation. 7. Provide technical leadership in the development and application of campus level automation and analytics initiatives that leverage enterprise data infrastructure, including: * Automatic fault detection and diagnostics * Enterprise metering and submetering integration * Load shed and demand response systems * Advanced trending and analytics platforms * Data visualization and reporting tools * System-wide scheduling optimization 8. Develop and oversee data governance standards: quality, consistency, accessibility, security, and archival practices across platforms to ensure long-term accuracy and use for building performance. 9. Provide technical leadership in the formulation, design, construction, commissioning, and operational turnover of projects overseen by Yale's capital projects groups. Serve as a consulting resource to teams to ensure: * Alignment with Yale' building automation and data standards * Proper server and network integration * Cybersecurity compliance * Long term operability and maintainability * Data availability and analytics capability * Cost-effectiveness 10.
