Working closely with classroom teachers and school leadership, this person designs experiences that invite students to think like makers, problem-solvers, and designers - not passive consumers of screens. Our approach to technology is intentional and developmentally grounded: for our youngest learners (K-2), technology instruction is integrated sparingly and thoughtfully, with hands-on, physical making at the center. Grades 3-6 engage more directly with digital tools as vehicles for authentic creation, collaboration, and inquiry. The Technology Integrator reports to the Administrative Team, * Design and teach K-6 innovation and technology experiences that center curiosity, critical thinking, exploration, and student agency in an evolving digital landscape. * Develop a developmentally appropriate scope and sequence-including intentional, limited use of screens for K-2 students, with an emphasis on physical making, unplugged computational thinking, and hands-on engineering. * Integrate digital tools, design thinking, and emerging technologies (including AI literacy) to enhance authentic student projects and foster creative problem-solving. * Guide students through iterative design and inquiry processes: identifying problems, brainstorming solutions, prototyping, testing, evaluating inputs/outputs, and revising. Leadership & Collaboration * Collaborate with classroom teachers to seamlessly connect technology, media literacy, and design experiences to ongoing disciplinary units of study. * Design and deliver targeted professional development, workshops, and coaching sessions for faculty to introduce emerging technologies, AI workflows, and innovative pedagogical tools. * Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative school events. * Lead and contribute to school-wide conversations regarding the ethical, responsible, and age-appropriate use of technology, digital citizenship, and screen time. Culture & Community * Create an inclusive classroom culture where risk-taking is celebrated, intellectual resilience is built through trial and error, and every student sees themselves as a capable creator and critical thinker. * Build relationships with students that communicate respect, high expectations, and genuine enthusiasm for their ideas and unique perspectives. * Communicate clearly and warmly with families about the purpose, philosophy, and evolving approach of the technology and innovation program. Operations & Administration * Maintain a dynamic physical and digital space that is organized and safe, and that reflects the creative, evolving work of students. * Maintain accurate records of student growth, utilizing qualitative documentation, digital portfolios, and anecdotal observations. * Manage and maintain shared equipment, hardware, and digital subscriptions; track inventory and proactively communicate supply and software needs.
