In this role, you will take ownership of our compilation infrastructure, continuous integration pipelines, and dependency management across large-scale C++ codebases running in Embedded Linux environments. You will operate at the intersection of software engineering and developer infrastructure, helping improve developer velocity, reduce build and test times, and maintain stable, repeatable releases across both simulated and hardware-integrated systems. What You'll Do * Design, maintain, and optimize cross-platform build systems using tools such as CMake and Bazel. * Manage and upgrade compiler toolchains (GCC, Clang, etc.) while handling complex dependency graphs, third-party libraries, and internal package management. * Own, scale, and secure Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) workflows tailored for large-scale C++ applications. * Diagnose and optimize compilation and linking bottlenecks through caching, parallelization, and distributed build strategies. * Ensure seamless cross-compilation across multiple architectures including x86 and ARM. * Support testing in containerized and emulated environments using technologies such as Docker and QEMU. * Write robust tooling and automation scripts in Python and Bash for environment provisioning, static analysis, and artifact generation. * Partner closely with core C++ developers to improve modular architecture, dependency management, and overall build reliability. * Build reproducible and deterministic build and release environments across local development, CI, and hardware-integrated systems. ## Related Videos - [Code to Road in < 12 hours](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1082-code-to-road-in-12-hours) - [Strange New Worlds: shaping the future of the digital age](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/677-strange-new-worlds-shaping-the-future-of-the-digital-age) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [Nx - the easy choice](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/292-nx-the-easy-choice) - [Docker exec without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1094-docker-exec-without-docker) - [More efficient software for more efficient microchips](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1164-more-efficient-software-for-more-efficient-microchips) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Dev Digest 131 - AI'm not sure about OSS](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/472-dev-digest-131-ai-m-not-sure-about-oss) - [Dev Digest 138 - Are you secure about this?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/486-dev-digest-138-are-you-secure-about-this)
