We want to feel something when we look at it, not just follow the UX flow. * Strong foundational skills in typography, layout, color, and component architecture. The kind of thing you can see in the first 10 seconds of someone's work. * Opinions. Real ones. You can defend a design decision without leaning on user testing as a crutch. You know why a component should be structured the way it is. You've thought about easing curves. You care about optical vs. mathematical alignment. * 3+ years designing consumer-facing products, with at least one social, chat, or community product in your background. * Expert-level Figma skills: auto-layout, component libraries, prototyping, and clean dev handoff. * A working understanding of both iOS and Android design conventions, because your users are on both. ## Description Staryo is building something different: a chat and social platform that puts real connection first. We're not chasing engagement metrics that erode people's time. We're building the kind of product that makes someone say "this just feels right" and actually mean it. We have a clear vision, a growing user base, and a team that cares deeply about getting the details right. That's where you come in. The Role We're looking for a designer who makes things. Not decks about things. Not process artifacts about things. Things. Someone who knows the difference between a feed that works and a feed that pulls you in. Between a chat UI that functions and one that disappears into the conversation. Between a design that ships and a design worth shipping. You'll own features across Staryo's web and mobile surfaces, from the first rough frame to what lands in front of real users. You'll work directly with engineers, care about the 3px spacing issue as much as the information architecture, and you'll ship work you're actually proud of. If your idea of great design is a polished Figma file that never sees the light of day, this isn't the job. If you want to build something people genuinely love using, read on. What You'll Do * Design, prototype, and ship core social and messaging features: feeds, profiles, chat threads, reactions, notifications, media sharing, and everything in between * Own features end to end, from early concept through to production-quality implementation * Work directly with engineers during builds and catch quality slippage before it ships * Sweat the details that separate good software from trusted software: type choices, motion, micro-interactions, the stuff most people skip * Build out and maintain a design system that actually scales, not one that collapses the moment someone touches it * Use AI tools as part of your real workflow to move faster, explore more variants, and get to refined solutions quicker * Give honest critique and take it just as seriously when it comes back at you ## Related Videos - [UX is a fullstack job!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1020-ux-is-a-fullstack-job) - [Edit Your Future: Queerverse Radical AI](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/909-edit-your-future-queerverse-radical-ai) - [Boost Productivity with AI: Figma & Playwright MCP Workflows - Aris Markogiannakis](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1768-boost-productivity-with-ai-figma-playwright-mcp-workflows-aris-markogiannakis) - [Learn Enough Design to Be Dangerous](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/577-learn-enough-design-to-be-dangerous) - [Fireside Chat with Kris Rasmussen, CTO at Figma](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/982-fireside-chat-with-kris-rasmussen-cto-at-figma) - [Bridging the Gap](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/794-bridging-the-gap) ## Related Articles - [10 Essential Figma Plugins for Frontend Developers in 2023](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/262-10-essential-figma-plugins-for-frontend-developers-in-2023) - [The future is here: How artificial intelligence is influencing UX design](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/65-the-future-is-here-how-artificial-intelligence-is-influencing-ux-design) - [Five Nostalgic Developer Portfolios for Inspiration](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/644-five-nostalgic-developer-portfolios-for-inspiration) - [16 Best Free React UI Libraries in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/148-16-best-free-react-ui-libraries-in-2025) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Dev Digest 169: Computers under pressure, AI's future & the why of Vim!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/590-dev-digest-169-computers-under-pressure-ai-s-future-the-why-of-vim)
