## About the Role

* Ability to write and modify programs (ideally php, perl, javascript, react) containing complex SQL statements
 * SQL skills, including sub-selects, joins, aggregation, normalization principles, and indexing strategies. (experience with mariadb / mysql and window functions is a plus)
 * Understanding of, and interest in, the business (profit analyses, sales, pricing, inventory, distribution, CRM systems) and the math involved.
 * Ability to understand the data interdependencies across diverse information systems and how to translate diverse data into database tables to facilitate analyses.
 * Ability to write programs in a clear, efficient manner.
 * Ability to read programs written by other programmers and make modifications.
 * Ability to find innovative ways to overcome speed issues to make data queries efficient and dynamic even when combining large quantities of data.
 * Ability to communicate effectively with others in IT as well as with business managers.
 * Hands on knowledge of Unix/Linux is a plus
 * Ability and openness to learn old and new programming languages as needed.
 * Oriented to making information and functionality available and providing systems meeting the business needs vs. purely technology-focused.
 * Openness to learning from others and adopting new approaches.

Education/Experience:

 * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent
 * 4+ years in a position combining hands-on SQL, Programming, and business analyses

 * Support other IT and business initiatives as required.
