This role is ideal for an engineer who can move beyond assigned tickets, understand system context, and help turn HGP's mission into scalable technology. This position requires strong execution, practical technical judgment, and the ability to work across product, operations, and engineering needs. The engineer will contribute to feature development, system reliability, documentation, testing, admin tooling, and long-term platform maintainability. Core Responsibilities System Documentation & Architecture - Audit, document, and maintain a clear understanding of the platform's codebase, architecture, dependencies, and integration points. - Identify technical debt, structural risks, and opportunities to improve maintainability and scalability. - Contribute to architecture discussions and help translate technical decisions into clear documentation. Platform Stability & Feature Development - Support the platform in reaching and maintaining a stable, user-accessible state by identifying and resolving functionality blockers. - Design, implement, and test prioritized feature enhancements that improve user experience, reliability, and operational efficiency. - Own discrete technical workstreams from requirements clarification through implementation, testing, and deployment support. Testing & Quality Assurance - Review, fix, and expand automated test coverage to ensure new and existing functionality performs as expected. - Improve test reliability so results accurately reflect platform performance and production readiness. - Support QA workflows, regression testing, and release-readiness checks. Messaging, Notifications & Workflow Reliability - Debug and improve messaging, notification, and workflow layers to support consistent, timely, and reliable communication across the platform. - Investigate production issues, root causes, and recurring technical failures, then implement durable fixes. - Monitor reliability concerns and propose system improvements where appropriate. Admin Tools & Internal Operations - Design, build, and maintain administrative tools with appropriate access controls, user permissions, and operational safeguards. - Create tools and workflows that help HGP scale education programs, internal operations, and resource distribution. - Collaborate with operations, product, and leadership stakeholders to translate real-world workflow needs into technical solutions.
