 * DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability
 * Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 10+ years of development experience
 * Experience with GoLang and Java programming languages
 * Experience with Spring Boot
 * Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven
 * Experience with relational databases
 * Experience with Docker, AWS Admin RedHat/OpenShift v4.x
 * Experience with Agile development methodology
 * Knowledge of end-to-end fully-automated CI/CD pipelines

Desired Skills / Qualifications:

 * Proven track record as a self-learner keeping current with the latest techniques to include automated code scanning, automated testing, continuous integration and continuous deployment concepts
 * Experience in Jira to support configuration management in an Agile environment
 * Experience with AWS
 * Experience with OpenShift or similar Kubernetes platform
 * Experience with Gitlab/GitHub
 * Perform database programming and support systems design
 * Design and develop system level changes
 * Interface with client on technical design
 * Experience with scrum/agile project lifecycle approach to software development
 * Experience implementing and managing a CI/CD pipeline
 * Possessing a clear understanding of pipeline architecture and design
 * Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proven fluency of English
 * Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility

## Description

Athena is seeking a highly skilled Senior Biometric Software Engineer to join our team of biometric system developers supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM)., * Use Java and GoLang development experience to develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications

 * Provide support and technical advice during conceptualization, development, and implementation phases to transform requirements to working solutions. This includes involvement with users to define system scope and objectives, as well as contributing to design decisions.
 * Work on new development and re-engineering efforts, including making system design decisions
 * Implement enhancements to the existing system, coordinate with other developers working in parallel, and perform QA/testing as needed
