Leadership & Ways of Working * Demonstrated ability to lead technical delivery end-to-end - scoping, estimating, driving to milestones - not just executing tasks assigned by others. * Track record of mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards; comfortable driving clarity in ambiguous environments with strong communication across technical and business audiences. Added Advantage * Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot in a production microservices context. * Exposure to Amazon Bedrock, Nova Sonic, or Claude for building AI agents or voice AI capabilities. * Familiarity with agentic AI patterns: tool-use, multi-agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation. * Background in security best practices: IAM policy design, secrets management, and secure coding standards. ## Description * Design and deliver production-grade solutions on Amazon Connect - contact flows, IVR, omnichannel routing - and own the AWS integration layer (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, IAM). * Lead integration of AI capabilities into contact flows: Amazon Lex for NLU, Amazon Bedrock and Nova Sonic for voice AI; contribute to IVR modernisation using hybrid cloud bridging for legacy telephony infrastructure. Full-Stack & Backend Engineering * Build and own scalable backend services in Node.js/TypeScript; design clean, well-tested microservices with strong API patterns, resiliency, and performance discipline - hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless where appropriate. * Own data layer decisions across relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) stores; integrate third-party communication platforms including WebRTC and VoIP where required. AI-Assisted Development * Actively use AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) as a standard part of your development workflow - not occasionally, but as a force multiplier. * Contribute to the team's adoption of AI tooling; help establish patterns for responsible, effective use of generative AI in engineering delivery. Cloud, DevOps & Observability * Drive cloud-native AWS delivery - well-architected and secure across EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, and related services; build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK. * Implement full observability - metrics, tracing, alerting, SLO dashboards using Dynatrace, Grafana, and CloudWatch; own incident learnings, not just incident response. Technical Leadership * Lead design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions; set the technical standard and hold the team to it. * Mentor engineers through pairing and structured feedback; your impact should be visible in how the team around you improves. * Translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical direction and communicate trade-offs across engineering and business stakeholders; drive technical debt reduction as a first-class delivery concern. ## Related Videos - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Leveraging Real time data in FSIs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/806-leveraging-real-time-data-in-fsis) - [Getting under the skin: The Social Engineering techniques](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/38-getting-under-the-skin-the-social-engineering-techniques) - [Fireside Chat - In conversation with Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon.com](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100265-fireside-chat-in-conversation-with-werner-vogels-cto-of-amazon-com) - [Docker build without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100114-docker-build-without-docker) - [NoSQL Data Modeling for Front-end Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/297-nosql-data-modeling-for-front-end-developers) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [Why Attend a Developer Event in 2026?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/688-why-attend-a-developer-event-in-2026) - [What is Agentic Programming and Why Should Developers Care?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/625-what-is-agentic-programming-and-why-should-developers-care) - [From Prototype to Production: Build AI Agents with This Free 4-Course Learning Path](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/655-from-prototype-to-production-build-ai-agents-with-this-free-4-course-learning-path) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers)
