Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Computer Technician, Systemwide (possible vacancies) - **Company:** Alabama State Department of Education - **Location:** Cullman, AL, United States - **Contract:** Permanent contract - **Skills:** Antivirus Softwares, Backup Devices, Spreadsheets, Databases, Data Security, Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack, Text Processing, Network Administration, Software Troubleshooting, Computer Equipment, Gsuite, Server Operating Systems & Platforms - **Published:** June 17, 2026 - **Apply:** https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=1af9504556c7868b ## About the Role Do you have experience in Writing skills?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High school diploma or Technical College graduate preferred. * Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. * Experience with Microsoft Desktop and server operating systems. * Experience with Chromebooks and Google Workspace. * Proficiency in technical reading, writing, and oral communication skills. * Knowledge of applications including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Internet, and networked applications. * Experience with basic network troubleshooting. * Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting. * Experience in hardware configuration and upgrades. * Experience in software installation and configurations. * Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities. * Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. ## Description * To provide technical support for computer hardware and software., * Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities. * Supports computer installation, maintenance, and repair at all schools and the central office. * Completes work orders on priority basis. * Maintains maintenance and repair records. * Installs server and client based applications. * Performs data security and backup procedures. * Assists network administrators, technology integration facilitators, and school technology coordinators as required. * Supports technology training activities as required. * Assists with maintaining schools' technology inventory and technology department spare parts inventory. * Performs hardware and software upgrades; this includes downloading security patches and monitoring anti-virus software. * Supports the test and evaluation of new technologies as directed. * Provides e-mail and phone support. * Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. * Models and maintains high ethical standards. * Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. * Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner. * Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. * Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system. * Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws. * Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. * Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
