That distinction matters for this role. As a Senior Network Engineer, you are building and supporting the connectivity layer that underpins our managed network services business: private circuits, carrier interconnects, NNIs, cloud interconnect, and data center presence. This is a service-provider-oriented engineering role, not enterprise LAN support. The right candidate is hands-on, comfortable working directly with carriers and data centers, and knows how to take a connectivity design from paper to production., * Design, configure, and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 network services including VLANs, QinQ, NNIs, MPLS, VRFs, BGP, OSPF, static routing, carrier Ethernet handoffs, and point-to-point circuits. * Engineer and support carrier interconnects, NNIs, Ethernet transport, wavelength services, dark fiber handoffs, and IP transit from circuit delivery through turn-up testing and troubleshooting. * Configure and support private cloud connectivity services including Azure ExpressRoute, covering BGP peering, VLAN tagging, routing policies, redundancy, and bandwidth profiles. * Validate physical and logical handoffs during circuit turn-ups, including optics, cabling, MTU, VLAN mapping, BGP sessions, and route exchange. * Support data center and colocation deployments including hardware staging, rack installation, cabling, optics, cross-connects, and vendor coordination. * Serve as an escalation point for complex connectivity, routing, and transport issues across Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3. * Develop and maintain repeatable configuration templates, provisioning runbooks, and troubleshooting documentation. * Collaborate with NOC, support, implementation, and sales engineering teams and participate in maintenance windows for network changes and circuit migrations. * Takes on additional responsibilities and projects as needed to support the success of the team and organization. ## Related Videos - [Demystifying application networking in the cloud](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/675-demystifying-application-networking-in-the-cloud) - [The Gashlycrumb Tinies of AI Networking You Must Know (or Languish!)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2067-the-gashlycrumb-tinies-of-ai-networking-you-must-know-or-languish) - [Transforming Education: A Journey from interactive Markdown to Remote-Labs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/941-transforming-education-a-journey-from-interactive-markdown-to-remote-labs) - [Creating a routing app with Google Maps API from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/831-creating-a-routing-app-with-google-maps-api-from-scratch) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [How Cisco embraced a DevOps culture within its network engineering team](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/99-how-cisco-embraced-a-devops-culture-within-its-network-engineering-team) ## Related Articles - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Basic And Advanced Networking in Dart and Flutter](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/112-basic-and-advanced-networking-in-dart-and-flutter) - [The Best Job Search Websites of 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/368-the-best-job-search-websites-of-2025) - [Everything a Developer Needs to Know About MCP with Neo4j](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/604-everything-a-developer-needs-to-know-about-mcp-with-neo4j) - [5 Reasons Why Attending Conferences in 2026 Matters More Than You Think](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/692-5-reasons-why-attending-conferences-in-2026-matters-more-than-you-think)
