Employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of these background checks. About Frontline Wildfire Defense Founded in 2017 by landscape ecologist and fire mitigation expert Harry Statter, Frontline developed the first fully integrated wildfire defense system to stop the leading cause of home loss in wildfires: ember-driven ignition. The system combines exterior sprinklers, full-coverage design, and connected software for remote monitoring and response, allowing homes to protect themselves long after families evacuate or infrastructure fails. Proven effective during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, 96% of homes with Frontline systems survived. That success has earned top industry recognition, including Frontline being recognized as one of TIME's Best Inventions 2025 in the Green Tech category and receiving the PCBC Gold Nugget Award for "Most Innovative Housing Concept" and the Best of IBS Award for "Best Home Technology." As wildfires grow hotter and more frequent, our vision is to give people the tools and strategies to live safely with fire. We're building a mission-driven team creating real-world solutions in wildfire safety and climate tech. About This Opportunity Frontline's software platform is real, deployed, and proven - but there is significantly more to build. The right engineer for this role is a builder at heart: someone who can assess what exists, identify what's missing, and drive the work to close that gap. You'll be adding to a foundation that already works, shaping the systems and architecture that will scale with the company as it grows nationally. If you're energized by the combination of existing momentum and genuine greenfield opportunity, this is that role., * Design, build, and maintain full-stack applications that support internal operations and customer-facing platforms. * Develop and connect to backend services and APIs using Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView, and PostgreSQL/PostGIS. * Build frontend interfaces in React + TypeScript that streamline internal workflows across all functions. * Lead and contribute to design reviews and architecture discussions, with a voice in key technical decisions * Integrate APIs with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform) and telemetry data pipelines. * Improve reliability, observability, and deployment efficiency through CI/CD and testing automation. * Lead in design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews to ensure scalability and maintainability. ## Related Videos - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Bringing digital education to refugee and host communities in remote regions of Africa](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/644-bringing-digital-education-to-refugee-and-host-communities-in-remote-regions-of-africa) - [Build and Deploy a Fullstack App with Open Source Tooling](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/775-build-and-deploy-a-fullstack-app-with-open-source-tooling) - [Meet Your New BFF: Backend to Frontend without the Duct Tape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/682-meet-your-new-bff-backend-to-frontend-without-the-duct-tape) - [Nest.js - TypeScript in the backend can also be clean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1033-nest-js-typescript-in-the-backend-can-also-be-clean) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [What’s the Difference Between Frontend and Backend Development?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/240-what-s-the-difference-between-frontend-and-backend-development) - [Find a Developer Job: 12 Best Job Sites For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/165-find-a-developer-job-12-best-job-sites-for-developers) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline)
