Approximately 6,000 children ages three to five attend early childhood classrooms in 80 elementary schools across the district, including several schools that offer Head Start Programming. The Manager, ECE Instruction Cluster Support will support the design and implementation of professional development experiences for teachers, teacher leaders, and school leaders to address early learning standards and the implementation of best practices within pre-kindergarten classrooms. The Manager, ECE Instruction Cluster Support will work closely with the rest of the ECED Instructional team, the Office of Teaching and Learning, the Division of Specialized Instruction, and Cluster Support teams to facilitate collaboration amongst these Offices, divisions, and teams. The Manager, ECE Instruction Cluster Support will report to the Director, Early Childhood Instruction ., The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. Other duties may be assigned. * Work collaboratively with the ECE Leadership Team to set the strategic vision for early childhood programming, ensuring alignment with DCPS Early Learning Standards. * Serve as a representative on Cluster Support Team and partnerclosely with instructional superintendents, school leaders, LEAP Leaders, and other district partners to support high-quality pre-K implementation and strengthen instructional practices across classrooms. * Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to school-based leaders on effective early childhood instructional strategies-including developmentally appropriate practice, classroom environments, and support for diverse learners. * Manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects that strengthen high-quality early childhood practice across DCPS, ensuring clear coordination, strong communication, and effective implementation from planning through execution. * Design, facilitate, and manage tiered professional learning for early childhood teachers, LEAP Leaders, and school-based staff, delivered through in-person sessions, LEAP modules, and on-demand resources (e.g., Canvas). * Support the professional development of staff on early childhood topics such as oral language, concept development, executive functioning, social-emotional learning, early literacy and numeracy, culturally responsive and anti-bias practice, and typical/atypical child development. * Identify effective instructional and technology-integrated best practices, modeling them for educators and providing ongoing coaching to improve teaching and learning outcomes. * Attend relevant training and remain current on early childhood education research, trends, and innovations. * Conduct regular school visits to observe instruction, provide coaching, monitor program implementation, and collaborate with school leaders and support staff as requested by Instructional Superintendent * Support teachers and school teams in implementing DCPS curriculum and lead development of strong curricular resources that reflect early learning best practices. * Anticipate and resolve complex challenges that may impact program success, including coordination of cross-divisional projects and urgent requests from district and school stakeholders. * Ensure staff collect, input, and analyze key assessment and programmatic data (CLASS, GOLD, attendance, service logs, etc.) to inform instructional improvement and program evaluation. * Support schools in using data to inform instructional decision-making and strengthen supports for all learners., * STUDENTS FIRST: We recognize students as whole children and put their needs first in everything we do. * COURAGE: We have the audacity to learn from our successes and failures, to try new things, and to lead the nation as a proof point of PK-12 success. * EQUITY: We work proactively to eliminate opportunity gaps by interrupting institutional bias and investing in effective strategies to ensure every student succeeds. * EXCELLENCE: We work with integrity and hold ourselves accountable for exemplary outcomes, service, and interactions. * TEAMWORK: We recognize that our greatest asset is our collective vision and ability to work collaboratively and authentically. * JOY: We enjoy our collective work and will enthusiastically celebrate our success and each other. ## Related Videos -
