This position requires a detail-oriented professional who is able to perform a variety of challenging administrative duties. The staff associate must have strong in skills, interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, parents, and students, to include individuals with a wide range of disabilities. Therefore, while we remain committed to supporting international faculty hires, we cannot guarantee payment of any newly imposed or increased visa-related fees., * Promotes and facilitates the retention and access of all students with disabilities through active and focused engagement. Promotes the services of SAS to the university community through various communication strategies. Monitors and promotes the note-taking system, the Peer mentoring system, the student data base, and the overall office operations and organization. Organizes files and completes necessary documentation. * Supports campus-wide programs and services for all students with disabilities. Assists by reviewing requests, documents, and eligibility for academic accommodations. * Communicates information about program services to faculty, staff, students, and guests with disabilities to ensure programmatic and physical access to the university. Educates the university community about the issues affecting students with disabilities through periodic seminars, workshops, and other appropriate means, including but not limited to forums, speakers, classroom presentations, and newsletters. * Ensure university wide services (e.g. C-Print Captioning). May need to travel to other university campuses for training purposes. Monitors and advocates for universal design, addresses and advocates during American Disabilities Act conflicts and promotes services that make the campus more accessible. Proctors tests as needed on behalf of students with disabilities. * Periodically attends professional conferences to stay current on issues affecting students with disabilities. Serves on division and university committees as designated.
