## Description

This is vocational-level technical systems administration work involving support for servers, operating systems, applications, documentation, backup processes, recovery processes, and related information technology functions. The incumbent works within established policies and procedures and performs technical tasks of limited scope, risk, and complexity.

Work includes assisting with system configuration, technical documentation, server installation, patching, backup and recovery activities, and other systems administration support functions.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Examples of work include assisting with requirements gathering; participating in Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) program configuration; creating lower-level systems documentation; performing technical writing for routine or lower-complexity system matters; assisting with the installation of servers; racking and stacking servers and storage equipment; installing patches on server operating systems and agency-specific applications; conducting backup runs and recovery activities; following established operating system and system administration procedures; documenting assigned work; communicating with technical staff and users as needed; and performing related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Essential functions include providing technical systems administration support; assisting with server installation, storage setup, operating system support, application support, system documentation, backup processes, and recovery activities; participating in requirements gathering and COTS program configuration; performing patch installation on server operating systems and agency-specific applications; creating routine technical documentation; following established system administration policies and procedures; communicating effectively with technical staff, users, supervisors, and other agency personnel; maintaining accuracy and attention to detail; supporting system reliability and continuity; and performing related information technology duties as assigned.
