This role serves as the central communication hub between referring providers, transport teams, and hospital departments, ensuring safe, timely, and seamless patient movement. A Day in the Life of Your day starts the moment you log in-phones, alerts, and requests are already coming in. As the central hub for patient movement, you quickly begin coordinating incoming and outgoing transfer requests, ensuring every detail is captured and routed efficiently. Throughout the day, you're in constant communication with transport teams, including ground EMS and air medical services. You track locations, provide updates, and ensure everyone stays informed as patient needs evolve. At the same time, you're working behind the scenes to secure and communicate bed assignments, making sure the receiving team is prepared when the patient arrives. Between calls, you carefully document each transfer interaction in the EHR and transfer systems, maintaining accurate, real-time records that support continuity of care and regulatory compliance. In critical moments, especially with air transport, you may also review and communicate weather conditions, helping ensure safe travel for both patients and transport crews. By the end of your shift, you've handled dozens of moving pieces-each call, each coordination, each decision contributing to timely care for patients who need it most. And while you may not always see the patients face-to-face, your impact is felt in every safe, successful transfer. ## Related Videos - [From Bedside Beeps to Interoperable Bytes – Getting your medical devices ready to talk the IEEE 11073 language](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/771-from-bedside-beeps-to-interoperable-bytes-getting-your-medical-devices-ready-to-talk-the-ieee-11073-language) - [Enabling intelligent logistics automation: home-grown Industrial IoT platform at Austrian Post](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2018-enabling-intelligent-logistics-automation-home-grown-industrial-iot-platform-at-austrian-post) - [It's not easy being green](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/558-it-s-not-easy-being-green) - [Opening Keynote: Civic Coding, A Framework for Democratic Tech](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/963-opening-keynote-civic-coding-a-framework-for-democratic-tech) ## Related Articles - [Best Paying Remote Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/255-best-paying-remote-jobs) - [The Best Job Search Websites of 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/368-the-best-job-search-websites-of-2025) - [System change: restart as developer?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/39-system-change-restart-as-developer) - [How to land a developer job in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/36-how-to-land-a-developer-job-in-amsterdam) - [Top 6 Hackathons for Developers in 2023](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/263-top-6-hackathons-for-developers-in-2023) - [A Guide to Green Tech and Green IT Careers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/374-a-guide-to-green-tech-and-green-it-careers)
