Technical depth * Strong applier data science skills: comfortable building predictive models, surfacing patterns, and shipping ML/AI features into production. * Excellent SQL and data modelling skills; can design, refactor, and optimize warehouse structures. * A record of delivering customer-facing dashboards (Metabase or similar) where accuracy and performance both matter. * Hands-on with query optimization, version control, and structured analytics development practices. Product instincts * Product minded by default: you think about users, value, and trade offs as naturally as you think about schemas. * A record of helping define product direction or roadmap for a data product, intelligence layer, or analytics offering. * Comfortable being opinionated about what to build (and what not to build) and bringing others along with you. Leadership without authority * Senior individual contributor with the credibility to set standards and lead through influence today: and the ambition to build and manage a team tomorrow. * Happy to be hands on in delivery while thinking ahead about how the capability should evolve. * Strong systems thinker, pragmatic problem solver, collaborative, respectful, and decisive when it counts. Communication * Clear, concise communicator of insights, trade offs, and technical decisions to product, engineering, commercial, operations, and customers; equally well. * Comfortable engaging directly with customers on reporting and insights. Deep ML research experience is not required; we're looking for someone with the judgement to apply techniques pragmatically and turn them into real, shipped value. The role offers autonomy today and scope to take on broader strategic leadership as the Intelligence offering scales. ## Description JoinedUp is looking for a hands on analytics leader to own the direction and delivery of its data science and ML offering: The Intelligence Pack. This role combines deep analytical engineering with strategic ownership: you will define how Intelligence is built, how it delivers value to customers, and how it evolves over time. This is the first dedicated data science hire at JoinedUp. You'll set standards, shape the roadmap in partnership with Product, and deliver much of the work yourself. You'll work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams, and engage directly with customers where needed. There is no people management today, but you will act as the center of gravity of everything data at JoinedUp: the data model that underpins our platform, the data science that turns it into predictive value for customers, and the business intelligence later that makes those insights tangible day-to-day. This role is intended to grow with the Intelligence offering and has the potential to evolve into a broader leadership position as the capability and team scale., Set the direction * Own the long term direction of the Intelligence offering, spanning data models, analytics, and customer facing insights. * Partner with Product to build a roadmap for our data science offerings. * Provide insights and what-if analysis tooling for our C-Suite customers. * Establish the architectural principles, analytical standards, and ways of working that allow Intelligence to scale safely and credibly. Build the work * Design and evolve the data architecture and canonical data model that underpins Intelligence, building on an existing warehouse. * Develop and ship data science work: predictive signals, pattern detection, automated insights: that genuinely moves the needle for customers. * Design and deliver dashboards that customers trust and rely on. * Own analytics engineering end to end: modelling data, optimizing queries, versioning work, and reviewing changes before they reach customers. * Introduce tooling and processes that speed up development while improving quality and consistency.
