Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or * A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "1" above, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative, consultative or supervisory experience described in "1" above; or * Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", or "2" above. Preferred * An advanced degree in public policy, business, education or another applicable field. * An interest in teaching induction and development. * Experience working as a teacher, especially in urban public schools. * Experience in project management, including goal setting and tracking, planning and implementation. * Strong written communication skills and attention to detail. * Strong organizational skills: the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize among them. * Strong relationship management skills. * Experience in education-focused data analysis or program evaluation * Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and advanced spreadsheet functions (Excel, Google Sheets). * Strong project coordination skills * Work well independently and in teams, in a position of authority and as a collaborator. * Ability to work with and through others in order to achieve success. * Proficient skills with Microsoft Office 365 applications. ## Description Position Summary: The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) is responsible for the recruitment of diverse and talented teachers to meet the staffing needs of New York Public Schools (NYCPS) and programs, as well as being responsible for initiatives to promote the equitable and quality distribution of teachers across all schools. Research has repeatedly shown that teacher quality is the single most important variable in raising student learning. The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality accomplish its work through a strategic, data-driven approach that focuses on the following efforts: * Serve as the primary marketing agent and source of information to individuals seeking to become NYCPS teachers, to recruit a large, high-quality, equitable and diverse pool of candidates. * Design and manage recruitment and preparation programs, and pipelines for individuals to become NYCPS teachers, especially to address subject and geographic shortage areas. * Select a diverse and high-quality pool of candidates to become teachers through rigorous, research-driven, screening processes. * Design and implement high-quality field experiences for teacher candidates in both alternative certification and traditional pathways. * Provide inclusive best practices and support to schools to help them make optimal, local hiring decisions. * Lead pipeline and pathways to teacher certification for diverse candidates within our communities to promote an equitable distribution of teachers across all schools. * Support new teachers with consistent onboarding experiences across the system when they are hired and throughout their first year. The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality is looking for a Director of Data, Operations, and Communications to support the Teacher Induction, Support and Leadership team by building and maintaining strong operational infrastructure that enables effective cross-team and cross-office collaboration and alignment with activities along the Recruitment to Retention Continuum. The role will oversee the cross-team communication calendar and planning processes, ensuring coordinated and productive team activities. The Director will monitor progress to goals, manage historical data, and develop a team dashboard that feeds into TRQ's Recruitment to Retention Dashboard. Additionally, the role will support the Deputy Senior Director and Senior Director with overall project management, tracking milestones and benchmarks, and driving operational excellence across the team. Performs related work. Reports to: Deputy Executive Director of Teacher Development, Induction & Leadership Direct Reports: Senior Recruitment to Retention Program Manager and Logistics Community Coordinators Key Relationships: Works closely with the Senior Directors and Deputy Senior Directors, as well as the Senior Leadership Team of the Teacher Induction, Support, and Leadership team and Strategy, Data, Admissions, and Systems. Collaborates across the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality. Additional key relationships include other offices within the Division of Human Resources, along with other internal and external partners, as applicable. Responsibilities Data * Lead data strategy and oversight, ensuring the collection, analysis, and use of data to monitor progress, inform decision-making, and drive cross-team continuous improvement aligned to the Recruitment to Retention continuum. * Analyze trends in teacher induction and retention across districts, schools, grade levels, and content areas in order to support districts with the onboarding and retention of new teachers and early career teachers. * Produce clear, accessible reports, dashboards, executive summaries and presentations for internal and external stakeholders that highlight progress to goals and program impact in Teacher Leadership and Recruitment to Retention District Partnership. * Develop tools to visualize data (charts, infographics, data briefs) for progress monitoring. * Develop and maintain team dashboard. * Contribute to the development and maintenance of a cross-office dashboard to house recruitment to retention data. * Develop a framework for the Teacher Induction, Support and Leadership team that evaluates the efficacy of Teacher Leadership and Recruitment to Retention District Partnership. Operations * Drive operational excellence by leading cross-functional planning, project management, and data systems that support effective implementation of teacher induction initiatives across the Recruitment to Retention continuum. * Develop project managing tools and routines to support planning, tracking milestones, and monitoring deliverables and outcomes. * Streamline workflows, documentation and communication practices to improve efficiency and team effectiveness. * Assist in monitoring the implementation of new teacher and early career teacher support programs. * Develop and refine key performance indicators and evaluation metrics. * Participate in meetings and professional learning sessions to present findings and gather feedback. * Coordinate with TRQ's Strategic Partnerships Team to ensure coherence and avoid duplication of efforts. * Oversee cross-team project management by tracking key milestones, deliverables, and progress to goals to ensure effective execution of strategic initiatives. Communications * Oversee strategic communications and knowledge sharing, managing internal communication structures and documenting evidence-based practices to ensure alignment, transparency, and continuous learning across teams. * Lead cross-team communication and planning by managing the team's communication calendar, aligning planning processes, and ensuring timely and coherent information-sharing across TRQ. * Document and share evidence-based practices by capturing insights, organizing team learnings, and disseminating resources that inform continuous improvement and alignment across the Recruitment to Retention Continuum.
