Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # 2026-27 Department Chairperson for Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) - **Company:** EVANSTON TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL - **Location:** Evanston, IL, United States - **Experience:** Expert - **Contract:** Temporary contract - **Skills:** Databases, Microsoft Office, Gsuite - **Published:** June 12, 2026 - **Apply:** https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=b08f7d50653087e0 ## About the Role Do you have experience in School experience?, * Minimum five years of work experience in a student services-related role. * Hold or be eligible for an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an administrative endorsement and with a preferred endorsement in School Social Work, School Counseling, or School Psychology. * Leadership, social work, psychology, counseling, teaching, and/or intervention implementation experience within schools. * Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and excellence, and high expectations for all students about student academic, well-being, and post-high school planning. * Demonstrated capacity to remain student-centered and strengths-based while facilitating meetings and developing interventions. * Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents/guardians, and community members. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Knowledge of school-related software, Microsoft Office, and Google Applications. * Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English). ## Description Departmental Leadership (MTSS Focus) * Demonstrate commitment to equity and excellence. * Encourage intra- and interdepartmental student-centered teamwork and collaborative problem-solving. * Expand the competency of Student Services, specifically in MTSS implementation, as outlined in ETHS goals and State standards. * Lead and support department staff in the implementation of comprehensive health, social-emotional, and intervention strategies that promote student success and high levels of achievement. * Work with relevant staff and the broader school community to support the development of individual post-high school success plans. 1 Program and Professional Management (MTSS Focus) Supervise the development of all programmatic efforts in alignment with school goals and State learning standards. * Cooperate with other department chairpersons in developing interdisciplinary MTSS programs. * Plan/organize and conduct team, departmental, and school-wide meetings, workshops, and professional development related to MTSS, intervention practices, and other Student Services practices. * Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth by reflecting on practice, seeking feedback, collaborating with colleagues, and monitoring one's own learning. * Support personnel in leveraging analytical data to drive evidence-based strategy and ongoing programmatic enhancements. Pupil Personnel Services (MTSS Focus) * Coordinate and facilitate Student Support Team (SST) meetings and related preparation meetings. * Collaborate with department administrators, building leadership, and the MTSS Committee to develop evidence-based interventions that address student needs, utilizing student strengths and interests. * Support consistent development, coordination, implementation, and progress monitoring of intervention plans and Student Success Plans across all grade levels. * Utilize data from the SST referral process and progress monitoring to identify intervention needs with grade-level teams as part of the SST process. * Review data from Student Support Team meetings through MTSS, including review of intervention implementation and results, and school-wide trends. * Facilitate the grade 8 enrollment and placement process for all academic courses and academic support programs. * Facilitate the grade 8 support history process to develop social-emotional and behavioral prevention and intervention resources for the freshmen team. Planning, Research, Program Implementation, and Evaluation (MTSS Focus) Prepare and submit programmatic and policy change recommendations based on data and research. * Maintain and utilize professional knowledge of response to intervention (RtI), multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for program, departmental, and school-wide implementation. * Supervise and evaluate the Student Support Team (SST 1/2/3) process. * Analyze metrics to determine necessary services and resource allocation, facilitating the creation of targeted interventions and programmatic developments. * Evaluate assessment tools used for instruction, intervention, and curriculum evaluation * Develop and maintain tools to measure intervention implementation and the effectiveness of the multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS). * Prepare reports to reflect interventions and outcomes throughout the school year and upon request. 2 * Leverage analytical data to identify performance patterns and address systemic disparities among diverse student cohorts. * Assist the administration in research projects. * Maintain departmental files and databases. Staff Supervision and Evaluation * Supervise and evaluate Student Services staff, including clerical and non-certificated staff. * Follow the District's evaluation system for licensed staff. * Support staff members with the individual problem-solving process and specific student needs or concerns. Community Relations Respond to parent/guardian inquiries about pertinent staff members and policies. * Support programs for students and parents/guardians (e.g., freshman orientation, college, career, truancy, school refusal, post-high school planning, and evening events). Policies and Procedures * Follow school Board policies and administrative procedures. * Inform pertinent staff of changes in policies and procedures. * Follow Federal, State, and municipal laws concerning educational and mental health decisions. Committee Assignment and Meeting Participation * Serve on all committees as required, such as MTSS, Leadership Team, Crisis Care Team, and others as assigned. Other Duties as Assigned TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 11-months (210 days). WORK ENVIRONMENT: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 25% sitting, 50% walking, and 25% standing.
