This role sits at the intersection of advanced digital signal processing, system architecture, and real-world hardware implementation. You will design and optimize DSP algorithms and architectures that enable robust, high-throughput links across challenging channels, helping push beyond current limits in coherent communications. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams spanning ASIC/FPGA design, RF/optical hardware, and system engineering to translate advanced algorithms into efficient, deployable modem solutions., * Design, develop, and optimize coherent DSP algorithms for high-speed communication systems * Architect end-to-end modem DSP chains including equalization, timing recovery, carrier recovery, and FEC integration. * Perform system-level modeling, simulation, and performance analysis, including link budgets and channel impairments. * Develop advanced algorithms such as: * + Adaptive equalization + Timing and carrier synchronization loops + Impairment mitigation * Evaluate and model optical and electrical channels, including optical components, ADC/DAC, AFE, and mixed-signal impairments. * Define DSP architecture specifications for ASIC/FPGA implementation, ensuring efficient mapping to hardware. * Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to integrate DSP algorithms into modem designs. * Support lab bring-up, validation, and characterization of modem systems. * Analyze relevant industry standards (e.g., OIF, Ethernet, optical transport) and incorporate them into designs. ## Related Videos - [Strange New Worlds: shaping the future of the digital age](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/677-strange-new-worlds-shaping-the-future-of-the-digital-age) - [Leveraging Large Language Models for Legacy Code Translation: Challenges and Solutions](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1157-leveraging-large-language-models-for-legacy-code-translation-challenges-and-solutions) - [The Gashlycrumb Tinies of AI Networking You Must Know (or Languish!)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2067-the-gashlycrumb-tinies-of-ai-networking-you-must-know-or-languish) - [Playing Pong on a shoulder press machine](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100140-playing-pong-on-a-shoulder-press-machine) - [Building a hypercar from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/607-building-a-hypercar-from-scratch) - [Software stack under and over the hood of the fastest accelerating car in the world](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/221-software-stack-under-and-over-the-hood-of-the-fastest-accelerating-car-in-the-world) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 134 - Where pixels sing?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/477-dev-digest-134-where-pixels-sing) - [Dev Digest 189: Open Phones, Be the Messenger and the USB-C of AI](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/639-dev-digest-189-open-phones-be-the-messenger-and-the-usb-c-of-ai) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Dev Digest 129 - Now that's what I call private data!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/468-dev-digest-129-now-that-s-what-i-call-private-data) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers)
