## Description

Responsible for performing activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of transactional databases including designing, configuring, and managing databases to ensure the integrity, security and accessibility of the organization's data., * Perform database server installations, upgrades and patching, performance tuning, security, monitoring, and configuration.

 * Define standards for physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration.
 * Perform backup and recovery using native and third-party backup tools.
 * Configure server and database settings for optimal database functionality.
 * Create, maintain, and troubleshoot automated database jobs.
 * Troubleshoot and resolve database connectivity and performance issues.
 * Monitor server and database metrics and respond to/resolve alerts.
 * Administer and maintain database access.
 * Create and maintain database and server documentation.
 * Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

 * Not responsible for supervising employees., * Demonstrate use of computer operations (programming, relational databases, and operating systems) and software packages.
 * Basic messages communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records.
 * Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
 * Job Specific Impact - Decisions generally affect own job or assigned functional area.
 * Results are defined and existing practices are used as guidelines for how to complete work activities; works closely with supervisor/manager who provides broad guidance and overall direction.
 * Foundational - Prioritize assigned and routine tasks. Handle appropriately.
