You will design, build, and ship production agents that reason over real manufacturing data and take action on it, supporting the many different roles across the factory that keep production running. You will own features end to end, from understanding the manufacturing problem through deploying a reliable service that people depend on during their shift., The core challenge of the role is developing a deep understanding of the domain: how a process actually works, where the source of truth for the data lives, and what a good answer looks like to the person asking. The most rewarding part is seeing the impact: agents that save people time, help them make better decisions, and move the work forward faster. You will work across modern programming languages, database systems, agent frameworks, and LLMs, and you will be expected to have strong software engineering fundamentals and the judgment to know when an agent's answer is trustworthy. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, feedback-driven mindset are essential, because building these agents means working closely with the manufacturing experts whose work they support. What You'll Do * Design, build, and ship production AI agents that help manufacturing engineers diagnose, decide, and act on the factory floor * Develop deep domain understanding of the manufacturing processes each agent supports, and find the authoritative truth source for every data input * Build the harness around the model, including tool definitions, retrieval, context assembly, and guardrails, so agents produce trustworthy, verifiable answers * Write and iterate on prompts and tool instructions that make agents behave reliably * Evaluate agent behavior rigorously by building eval sets and automated graders that measure answer quality and catch regressions before they ship * Integrate agents with real manufacturing data systems including SQL and columnar databases, message streams, and live equipment interfaces * Lead projects end to end, from gathering requirements with domain experts through architecture, implementation, testing, and production deployment * Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers and product partners to ensure each agent solves the real problem and earns user trust * Maintain high engineering standards across version control, code review, CI/CD, monitoring, and logging for the services engineers rely on during their shift ## Related Videos - [MySQL Protocol Features You Should Be Aware Of](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100267-mysql-protocol-features-you-should-be-aware-of) - [Go with the Flow: Stop the Leaks Before Your Memory's a Waterfall!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100073-go-with-the-flow-stop-the-leaks-before-your-memory-s-a-waterfall) - [Agentic employees in world's most downloaded FinTech app](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100123-agentic-employees-in-world-s-most-downloaded-fintech-app) - [Coding for Good: Achieving social change with an app](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1645-coding-for-good-achieving-social-change-with-an-app) - [The AI-Native Engineering Org: What’s Real, What’s Hype, What’s Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100004-the-ai-native-engineering-org-what-s-real-what-s-hype-what-s-next) - [Scoring 2000 Products per Request: Performance Pitfalls in Golang](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2073-scoring-2000-products-per-request-performance-pitfalls-in-golang) ## Related Articles - [What is Agentic Programming and Why Should Developers Care?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/625-what-is-agentic-programming-and-why-should-developers-care) - [MLOps And AI Driven Development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/82-mlops-and-ai-driven-development) - [Graph and AI Trends 2026: Why Is AI Running but Not Yet Delivering?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/680-graph-and-ai-trends-2026-why-is-ai-running-but-not-yet-delivering) - [How to Become an AI Engineer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/331-how-to-become-an-ai-engineer) - [Never delegate the understanding](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/749-never-delegate-the-understanding) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift)
