Two or more years of experience in fire sprinkler systems or mechanical drafting and design. NICET level achieved in Special Hazards Systems is a plus. NFSA - Sprinkler Layout Technical Training Certificate, or other recognized fire sprinkler systems educational course certificate. Proficiency in the following software and business system tools is suggested: Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Hydratec HydraCAD, FireCAD, Salesforce, Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, Revu Bluebeam, and other Project Management system platforms. Must have proven success in system design efforts. Leadership and strategic planning skills are a must along with the ability to work and collaborate as a team. Must be able to travel domestically within the US and internationally (at times) to meet with prospects, customers, and distributors/partners, industry experts with review of projects. PREFERRED:Knowledge of Fire Sprinkler Systems, Special Hazards Systems, Fike Safety Products, Solutions, and Services. ## Description The Special Hazards Water Based Systems Designer will provide support with initial suppression system layouts and sizing calculations up through the generation of full drawing sets and submittal guides that complement Fike's engineered protection systems. The primary focus of the role is to design special hazards water based suppression systems with an opportunity to cross-over into other fire and explosion protection system types. The position will work in conjunction with commercial sales functions of Fike's distribution network, channel partners, and internal design-build project support team within the Fike Solutions Group., 1. Supports commercial sales leads and opportunities where Fike design services have been requested by customers. 2. Utilizes knowledge of applicable codes and guidelines such as IBC, NFPA, IFC, product manuals, and other regulatory requirements. 3. Develops and continuously makes improvements with design service processes, procedures, control, and deliverables. 4. Performs site or drawing set take-offs for use towards next steps in system selection, layout, and sizing calculations. 5. Utilizes experience and proficiency in the use of (2D and 3D) design software not limited to: Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Hydratec HydraCAD, FireCAD and other hydraulic / flow calculations and formulas. 6. Produces the following complete CAD drawing packages: * Density/Area, K-Factor, Pressure, and Flow/Hydraulic Calculations * Site & Floor Plans with Piping Isometrics * Product Component List and Bill of Materials (BOM) * Submittal Guide 7. Interacts in meetings and sessions where technical expertise and application support in water-based solutions is needed. 8. Uses and maintains an established design support request log, project list, and schedule to keep record of work related tasks for individual and team use. 9. At times provides a detailed proposal with a defined scope of work for the customer along with coordination of the commercial team member that's responsible for the opportunity so the information is presented appropriately. 10. Continues professional career development by obtaining technical knowledge through attending educational workshops, courses, seminars, and reviewing professional publications. 11. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed. Performs related duties as assigned.
