This is a hands-on leadership role - you will spend the majority of your time writing and reviewing code, but you will also own team delivery, set engineering standards, and be the person developers turn to when they're stuck or need direction., * 5+ years of production experience with React and TypeScript in complex, customer-facing applications * Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a team of developers - setting standards, running reviews, and owning delivery * Strong Next.js experience (App Router preferred) or equivalent modern SSR framework * Proven track record making application architecture decisions - data modeling, API design, integration patterns * Solid Postgres fundamentals: schema design, indexing strategy, query performance, and RLS * Proven ability to build and secure server-side APIs with proper authorization enforcement * Experience integrating third-party systems via REST APIs and webhooks at production scale * Testing discipline - unit tests for logic, E2E coverage for critical paths * Comfortable with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) as a core part of your daily workflow * Strong written and verbal communication - you can explain technical decisions to both developers and non-technical stakeholders, * Prior experience in a tech lead, staff engineer, or engineering lead role * Experience with CPQ, ERP, or CRM integrations (Salesforce, SAP, NetSuite, or similar) * Background in durable workflow or queue-based processing (Temporal, BullMQ, or equivalent) * Hands-on security experience: CSP headers, rate limiting, secrets management, dependency scanning * Experience writing or reviewing architectural decision records (ADRs) or similar design documentation * Prior work on multi-tenant SaaS platforms or customer-facing commerce applications * Experience contributing to hiring: writing job specs, conducting technical interviews, or calibrating assessments ## Description You will lead end-to-end delivery of modern customer-facing applications - portal, quoting, and ordering - built on a focused modern stack and shipped at high velocity without sacrificing quality or security. You bring a strong architectural mindset, genuine fluency with AI-assisted development tools, and the instinct to build systems and teams that last. This is not a role for someone who waits for direction or delegates the hard problems. You will make consequential design decisions, protect the team from ambiguity, hold the bar for reliability and security, and be actively invested in the growth of every developer on your team., * Customer portal experiences - account management, multi-tenant experience, entitlements, order history, and status * Guided quoting journeys integrated with CPQ (quote creation, guided selling, approvals visibility) * Ordering flows and real-time status synchronization * Durable integrations with ERP and CRM systems via REST APIs, webhooks, and reliable messaging patterns * A high-performing, collaborative team culture where developers do their best work Core Responsibilities * Hire and Lead a small team of 2-4 developers: set clear expectations, run sprint planning, and own team delivery commitments * Actively mentor developers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and regular 1:1s - invest in their growth, not just their output * Unblock the team quickly: resolve ambiguity, make decisions, escalate when needed, and protect focus time * Conduct meaningful code reviews that teach - explain the why behind feedback, not just what to change * Identify skill gaps on the team early and address them through coaching, pairing, or structured learning * Lead application-level architecture decisions: data modeling, API design, integration patterns, and component boundaries * Design versioned, secure APIs (/api/v1/...) and define conventions the wider team can follow consistently * Evaluate build-vs-integrate tradeoffs and document decisions as lightweight ADRs that create shared understanding * Identify scalability and reliability risks early, drive solutions before they become incidents, and communicate trade-offs clearly to stakeholders * Translate product requirements into technical designs the team can execute with confidence * Remain a productive individual contributor - deliver complete features end-to-end: UI API database integration * Implement server-side authorization (RBAC/ABAC) and enforce data isolation via Row-Level Security (RLS) * Build resilient integrations with webhook signature verification, retry logic, and idempotency * Write meaningful tests - unit coverage for business logic and Playwright E2E for critical user flows * Instrument Sentry and structured logging with correlation IDs so production is always observable * Use Cursor or Claude Code as your primary coding environment and model effective AI-assisted development for the team * Apply AI tooling with judgment: review, challenge, and own everything the team ships, regardless of how it was generated * Define team norms around responsible AI-assisted development - what to accelerate, what to scrutinize * Stay current on AI tooling advances and bring relevant improvements to the team's workflow * Own the quality bar across the team - PR reviews, test coverage, security gates, and deployment readiness * Drive shared standards: API conventions, authorization helpers, UI component patterns, and documentation * Support production reliability through runbooks, on-call leadership, and blameless post-incident reviews * Champion security-first thinking: enforce Snyk gates, CSP headers, secrets hygiene, and dependency discipline ## Related Videos - [Watch Tests Go Brrrr!
