We're looking for software engineers that have architected, worked in, or are excited to experience large scale, high volume, big data systems. We process billions of data points and terabytes of data daily and are scaling to petabyte-scale workloads. At SwipeSense, we use the right tools for the job - and with a system at this scale, we live on the cutting edge of technologies, always questioning and rebuilding core components of our platform to meet the scaling demands of the future. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining these systems. We're looking for people with strong opinions about what you're building and how it's being built. PRIMARY ROLE You'll be responsible for leading the architecture and development of our software systems, ensuring an exceptional user experience. You'll be working in our AWS stack and helping collect, process, and display streaming sensor data in real-time to various internal and external consumers. This role has wide breadth - while the specialization is UI, the ideal candidate will be just as comfortable handling backend, database or cloud tasks where needed. We are a small team and appreciate broad skill sets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Set and uphold the highest standards for UI/UX - you don't need to be a designer and will have access to a Product team, but the ideal candidate will understand general best practices. * Optimize and design user-facing software for high-concurrency workloads. Ensure performance under realistic loads and access patterns. * Integrate frontend systems with backend services, handling backend/database work where needed. * Provide thorough tests and alerting to ensure resiliency. * Write well-documented code and be prepared to explain your solutions collaboratively; conduct and receive code reviews. * Work directly with Engineering and Product Management, as well as fellow engineers, to arrive at the best possible solution. ## Related Videos - [How a Small Team Shrank a Microsoft Monorepo by 94%](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1236-how-a-small-team-shrank-a-microsoft-monorepo-by-94) - [The Resilience of the World Wide Web](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1281-the-resilience-of-the-world-wide-web) - [MySQL Protocol Features You Should Be Aware Of](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100267-mysql-protocol-features-you-should-be-aware-of) - [Intro to Flutter Development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/170-intro-to-flutter-development) - [Branch your database like your code: How schema changes and pull requests go hand in hand](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/350-branch-your-database-like-your-code-how-schema-changes-and-pull-requests-go-hand-in-hand) - [Git for Code Reviews](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/429-git-for-code-reviews) ## Related Articles - [Flutter Developer Salary [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/199-flutter-developer-salary-2023) - [16 Best Free React UI Libraries in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/148-16-best-free-react-ui-libraries-in-2025) - [React Developer Salary [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/198-react-developer-salary-2023) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Basic And Advanced Networking in Dart and Flutter](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/112-basic-and-advanced-networking-in-dart-and-flutter) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers)
