This is a hands-on engineering role for experienced network technologists with deep expertise in routing, MPLS, firewalls, and packet-level troubleshooting, combined with working knowledge of cloud networking and automation. NOC Engineers function as true engineers-owning complex troubleshooting, real-time monitoring, incident response, change execution, and customer connectivity onboarding-while operating independently with minimal supervision. They collaborate directly with internal engineering teams and external customers, serve as escalation points, and communicate clearly with both technical stakeholders and senior leadership, translating complex issues into actionable outcomes. The role also emphasizes building efficient, modern operations through scripting, automation, and API-driven workflows to improve observability, accelerate root cause analysis, and reduce mean time to repair (MTTR). While familiarity with AI-assisted tooling is beneficial, the primary focus is on strong engineering fundamentals and practical automation that reduces operational friction. Success in this role requires sound operational judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate complex telemetry and packet-level data into clear, actionable insights. Engineers are expected to perform effectively in a high-availability, always-on environment while supporting and evolving a next-generation, software-driven network and cloud operations function. This role follows a M-F 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM schedule. Your responsibilities will be: * Engineer and support customer connectivity across on-prem and cloud environments, including circuit provisioning, AWS networking, and VPN connectivity, while configuring and deploying production changes across routing, firewall, and cloud network infrastructure * Troubleshoot and support complex network environments (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, multicast, HSRP), partnering with customers and internal teams to validate connectivity, onboard new participants, and resolve issues across latency-sensitive trading systems * Provide real-time monitoring and incident response for global network infrastructure, analyzing telemetry, packet loss, and performance data to proactively identify issues and drive rapid resolution with clear communication * Deliver high-quality customer support through ticket queues and direct engagement, serving as a trusted technical resource and ensuring clear, timely communication with both customers and internal stakeholders * Lead escalations and advanced troubleshooting efforts across network, cloud, and infrastructure domains, collaborating with engineering teams and vendors to restore service and resolve complex issues * Develop and maintain automation, monitoring enhancements, and observability tooling using scripting and API-driven integrations to improve efficiency, visibility, and troubleshooting speed * Perform deep packet analysis and contribute to root cause investigations, translating low-level network data into clear findings that support long-term problem management and service improvement, At Cboe, we are committed to providing a competitive, transparent, and market-informed total rewards program. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $85,000-$121,000, with actual compensation determined by job-related factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location. This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and, where applicable, participation in Cboe's long-term equity programs. ## Related Videos - [How Cisco embraced a DevOps culture within its network engineering team](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/99-how-cisco-embraced-a-devops-culture-within-its-network-engineering-team) - [What Developers Get Wrong About Application Quality](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/233-what-developers-get-wrong-about-application-quality) - [5 steps for running a Kubernetes environment at scale](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/88-5-steps-for-running-a-kubernetes-environment-at-scale) - [Your Infrastructure Is Not a Playground: AI Agents for Infra Done Right](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2084-your-infrastructure-is-not-a-playground-ai-agents-for-infra-done-right) - [What makes Cybersecurity different for critical infrastructure?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/571-what-makes-cybersecurity-different-for-critical-infrastructure) - [Computer Vision from the Edge to the Cloud done easy](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/263-computer-vision-from-the-edge-to-the-cloud-done-easy) ## Related Articles - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Best Paying Jobs in Technology](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/256-best-paying-jobs-in-technology) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [Where To Find Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/396-where-to-find-software-engineering-jobs) - [Why Upskilling And Reskilling is Important For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/428-why-upskilling-and-reskilling-is-important-for-developers) - [The Best Job Search Websites of 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/368-the-best-job-search-websites-of-2025)
