Bonus Experience * Familiarity with data-driven systems or machine learning integrations * Experience working with high-scale backend platforms ## Description Dave is looking for a talented Senior Backend Engineer to continue building the foundation that empowers the engineers to build products that help millions of people improve their relationship with money. The squad is a critical part to the servicing of DAVE's customers by facilitating the Dave Bank account and Dave debit Card management, Bank and Card based transaction processing, reconciliation & ledgering. We manage integrations with multiple processors, banking service providers, sponsor banks and multiple product verticals. In addition, the team owns the backend systems for the on-boarding, validation and managing of Debit Card based payment methods. We're looking for someone who thrives on solving hard problems, is passionate about finding innovative solutions not just for today but allowing for growth of the future, delights customers, and inspires colleagues. What You'll Build and Own * Architect and implement software solutions that are scalable, performant and secure. * Design the future state of our large-scale backend distributed platforms with an understanding of our product and engineering goals, a deep understanding of our existing systems, and payment processing regulations like PCI compliance and 3DS to inform the right technical and product tradeoffs. * Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards * Use code reviews as an opportunity to coach and ensure best practices/standards. * Provide technical leadership and assist guiding the team's overall technical direction * Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications * Debug and troubleshoot production issues and provide timely solutions * Proactively eliminate potential for customer-impacting outages in the systems so users are able to move money in a secure manner seamlessly. * Utilizes the various offerings of Cloud Platforms to build robust, efficient, and resilient distributed systems. * Designs and implements efficient data storage in our SQL and NoSQL databases to power the Dave platform. * Continuously enhance and refactor the codebase to improve maintainability, scalability and extensibility * Monitor and analyze system performance, diagnose issues, and proactively identify opportunities for optimization. Implement logging and application performance monitoring mechanisms to gather relevant metrics and ensure comprehensive observability * Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices * Share knowledge with the team and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies., You take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks. You care about building systems that hold up over time and look beyond the immediate ticket to understand how your work affects the broader product, member experience, and platform reliability. You make thoughtful trade-offs between speed and durability and ask questions that help clarify the best path forward. You also work well across teams.
