Yes, you will take on product design, development and detailing but the work will commence with on-site measuring of mechanical products and components that are already installed in a piece of capital plant. The measurements will then be taken back to the office to create engineering and manufacturing designs and drawings. The installed plant coud be anywhere in the world, so the ability and willingness to travel is essential. Excellent written and spoken English is essential as you will be dealing with customers for whom English is a foreign language. 2d and 3d CAD skills are essential with any one of the main packages - Solidworks, SolidEdge, Autodesk Inventor etc A formal mechanical engineering qualification is very much preferred.
