You will write software for Apple silicon in a bare metal environment, working closely with cross functional teams such as chip design, silicon validation, and product engineering, to bringup new silicon and ensure the quality and performance of every device manufactured., As a SoC Embedded Software Engineer you will design, develop, and support high quality, scalable software implementations that enable rapid device test and characterization of Apple Silicon SoCs in an RTOS runtime environment. You will engage with new Apple Silicon SoCs from pre-silicon bringup to mass production and beyond. You will write software to exercise and stress test various IP blocks and subsystems for Apple SoCs within a resource constrained environment. Focus areas could include the DRAM interface, CPU cores and caches, digital media blocks, graphics and compute accelerators, or I/O interfaces such as USB, PCIE, or SPI. A ideal candidate will have experience with SoC bringup, validation, and reliability testing along with familiarity with at least one of these SoC functional blocks. Knowledge of SoC test strategies for DRAM or Burn-in would be helpful. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally with all phases of operations teams from the wafer fab all the product assembly and final test. You will have a direct impact on Apple's future products by ensuring world-class solutions to demanding test and engineering challenges. Activities include: * Participating in SoC bringup, validation, and test * Development of targeted SoC functional tests to screen for defects * Support for test program deployment, failure analysis, and device characterization * Use of soft skills and data driven approach to effectively collaborate and participate in multi-team discussions and decision-making. ## Related Videos - [Cyber Security: Small, and Large!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/259-cyber-security-small-and-large) - [HTTP headers that make your website go faster](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1676-http-headers-that-make-your-website-go-faster) - [Single Server, Global Reach: Running a Worldwide Marketplace on Bare Metal in a Cloud-Dominated World](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1206-single-server-global-reach-running-a-worldwide-marketplace-on-bare-metal-in-a-cloud-dominated-world) - [Passive ARM Assembly Skills for Debugging, Optimization (and Hacking)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1083-passive-arm-assembly-skills-for-debugging-optimization-and-hacking) - [Scaling: from 0 to 20 million users](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/676-scaling-from-0-to-20-million-users) - [Event based cache invalidation in GraphQL](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/433-event-based-cache-invalidation-in-graphql) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 118 - not a total recall](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/452-dev-digest-118-not-a-total-recall) - [7 Important Tips That Every Software Developer Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/101-7-important-tips-that-every-software-developer-should-know) - [How software is steering vehicle technology](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/515-how-software-is-steering-vehicle-technology) - [Dev Digest 129 - Now that's what I call private data!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/468-dev-digest-129-now-that-s-what-i-call-private-data) - [Should senior developers refuse interview coding challenges?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/29-should-senior-developers-refuse-interview-coding-challenges) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers)
