The salary for a data analyst working in Switzerland is much higher compared to those working in Germany, Austria or the UK. The average junior data analyst salary is around CHF 90,000 — bear in mind, we are getting these estimates from Glassdoor, so expect them to be on the higher end. Even so, a salary in the range of 70k - 80k is still considered very high, for reference 1 CHF is about 1 EUR. If you’d like to get more accurate figures based on your skills and experience, you can use our [salary calculator](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/en/lp/developer-salary-calculator). ‍ 💰 more salaries… - [Data Analyst Salary Austria](/magazine/275-data-analyst-salary-austria) - [Data Analyst Salary Germany](/magazine/277-data-analyst-salary-germany) - [Data Analyst Salary UK](/magazine/278-data-analyst-salary-in-the-uk) ## Salary by Experience Salary is dependent on speicalised skills and experience. If you are entering a company with little to no experience, you’re probably not going to get a competitive salary. You’ll probably be earning 20k -20k less than data analysts that have 5+ years of experience. With 5+ years of experience you will have many more opportunities and will be able to negotiate a higher salary. According to our research, a senior data analyst can earn between CHF 100K - 130k. ‍ ## Taxes in Switzerland 🇨🇭 Switzerland is known for its high standard of living which means higher costs (compared to EU) for rent, transport, groceries, etc,. Despite the high cost of living, taxation in Switzerland is actually one of the lowest in Europe — especially for millionaires who can negotiate a 10% flat rate. For example, if you make CHF 91,500 a year living in the region of Zurich, Switzerland, you will be taxed CHF 20,690. That means that your net pay will be CHF 70,810 per year, or CHF 5,901 per month. Your average tax rate is 22.6% and your marginal tax rate is 34.2%. This marginal tax rate means that your immediate additional income will be taxed at this rate. For instance, an increase of CHF 100 in your salary will be taxed CHF 34, hence, your net pay will only increase by CHF 65. **Swiss tax brackets:** | Income (CHF) | Tax rate (CHF) | | --- | --- | | Less than 14,800 | 0 | | 14,800 – 32,200 | 0 | | 42,200 – 56,200 | 133.95 | | 56,200 – 73,900 | 221.95 | | 73,900 – 79,600 | 591.55 | | 79,200 – 105,500 | 1,117.20 | | 105,500 – 137,200 | 1,455.75 | | 137,200 – 179,400 | 5,954.75 | | 179,400 – 769,600 | 10,596.75 | | \> 769,700 | 88,515.55 | ‍ [Public Holidays in Switzerland](/magazine/175-swiss-public-holidays-in-2024) ## Salary by type and technology For [software engineers](/magazine/215-software-developer-salary-in-switzerland-2023) we have a bit more data so we can zoom in on specific tech skills and see how that impacts salary. It’s a little tougher to look at SQL, R, and Python separately to inform [data analysts](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/lexicon/data-analyst) on what technologies pay the most. The reason being, data analysts should be skilled in all of these technologies, especially as they climb the ladder and become more skilled. So let’s instead take a look at some of the roles analysts specialise in and compare. ‍ ## Average salary by city We’ve taken the average salary across the top five cities in Switzerland to get an idea of where data analysts are earning the most. This is not the most accurate representation of salary because these averages are affected by the number of people and those top positions in companies that might only have offices in one city. Based on this data, the highest earners are most likely in Zurich, earning around CHF 99,800 per year. But, chances are, Zurich has more job opportunities and companies. ‍ ## Salary by Company in Switzerland Specific salaries from actual companies in Switzerland are also a great way to gauge what data analysts are earning. This is particularly helpful if you’re applying for jobs and want to see what your peers are earning to ensure you negotiate a fair salary. The companies listed in the snapshot below aren’t the [best companies](/magazine/186-best-companies-to-work-for-in-the-uk-top-25-companies-in-2023) in Switzerland, but instead companies where employees have shared salaries. Swiss data analysts are the top earners on average compared to their peers in Germany or Austria. **Salary sample:** | Company | Salary | | --- | --- | | Google | CHF 128,635 | | Sunrise Communications | CHF 120,000 | | UBS | CHF 106,767 | | Credit Suisse | CHF 102,396 | | Swiss International Air Lines | CHF 90,000 | | PwC | CHF 88,156 | | Onedot | CHF 85,000 | | Samsung Electronics | CHF 80,000 | | ETH Zurich | CHF 75,000 | | Universitat Zurich | CHF 74,796 | ## Related Articles - [Software Developer Salary in Switzerland [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/215-software-developer-salary-in-switzerland-2023) - [Average Salary in Switzerland](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/242-average-salary-in-switzerland) - [Data Analyst Salary Austria](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/275-data-analyst-salary-austria) - [Data Analyst Salary Germany](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/277-data-analyst-salary-germany) ## Related Videos - [Beyond Paychecks: Designing Reward Systems for a Meaningful Employee Experience](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1777-beyond-paychecks-designing-reward-systems-for-a-meaningful-employee-experience) - [Beyond Gut Feelings: The Rise of Data-Driven HR](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1326-beyond-gut-feelings-the-rise-of-data-driven-hr) - [The 2026 Talent Pivot: Essential Trends for an Evolving Workforce](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100098-the-2026-talent-pivot-essential-trends-for-an-evolving-workforce) - [1000 things we tried for new work.
