Spring Boot Beyond the Defaults: A Practical Framework for Overriding Autoconfiguration

with Pradeep Kumar

Thursday 26 November 16:00 – 16:30 Stage 3 - powered by GitHub

About This Session

Spring Boot's greatest strength is its ability to assemble production-ready applications through autoconfiguration. Yet most teams struggle when the defaults no longer fit their requirements. The result is often unnecessary bean replacement, framework fights, and configuration sprawl. In this session, we'll build a real Spring Boot application and explore a practical decision framework for customizing framework behavior safely and predictably. Using live coding, we'll progressively move through four levels of intervention: Property-based customization Extension points and customizers Implementation replacement through dependency changes Bean replacement and ownership transfer Along the way we'll inspect the Conditions Evaluation Report, understand how Spring Boot makes decisions during startup, and learn how to override behavior without breaking framework conventions. Attendees will leave with a repeatable framework for deciding when to configure, extend, replace, or take ownership of Spring Boot infrastructure.
