Job description

Reporting to the Senior Manager Business Application EU the Oracle Fusion PaaS Extension Architect is responsible for owning the target architecture and guardrails for Oracle Fusion Cloud extensions built on Oracle PaaS ("PaaS4SaaS"). Ensuring extensions are secure, upgrade-safe, observable, and cost-efficient, with clean interfaces to Fusion and surrounding systems.

This hybrid position is most ideally located in Berlin or Dusseldorf with a mixture of on-site and home working (we could help relocate within Germany).

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Architecture ownership & guardrails: Define reference architectures, patterns, and re-usable building blocks for PaaS extensions; maintain a standards catalogue and quality gates
  • Solution design & reviews: Lead/approve solution designs; run architecture/design reviews; ensure separation from Fusion core and adherence to PaaS4SaaS principles
  • Integration & data architecture: Define API strategy, resource models, versioning, idempotency, and eventing; steward contract ownership (OpenAPI/AsyncAPI) and data flows between Fusion, OIC, and extensions
  • Security & compliance: Define AuthN/Z models (OAuth2/OIDC, IDCS/OCI IAM), data classification, secrets management, and tenancy/compartment strategy; support GDPR/SOX controls and pen-test remediation
  • Non-functional requirements: Establish SLOs/SLIs; design for performance, resilience, scalability, and observability; plan capacity and disaster recovery
  • Release readiness: Own the quarterly-update readiness process for extensions; define impact checks, smoke/contract tests, and rollback strategies; chair go/no-go from an architecture perspective
  • Engineering enablement: Standardize CI/CD, testing strategy, and IaC (Terraform/OCI Resource Manager); curate templates, starter repos, and coding standards for APEX/VBCS/ORDS.
  • Cost management (FinOps): Forecast and monitor OCI consumption; enforce cost guardrails; optimize storage/compute patterns.
  • Documentation & knowledge: Produce ADRs, diagrams (C4/sequence), runbooks, and architecture decision logs; mentor engineers; lead brown-bag sessions.
  • Vendor & stakeholder management: Evaluate partners and tools, drive make/buy decisions, and align stakeholders across IT and business.
