Requirements

Do you have experience in JavaScript?, Quantum Forge is a web development company building clean, fast websites for small businesses. We're looking for a reliable frontend developer to join us as a contractor and take on projects independently from start to finish., * Solid proficiency in HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript - you can build without a framework

  • Ability to write clean, responsive code from scratch
  • Strong enough fundamentals that you're not dependent on AI tools - though using AI to assist your workflow is welcome and encouraged
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently with minimal oversight
  • Good communication when questions or blockers come up

Benefits & conditions

Pulled from the full job description

  • Flexible schedule, Pay Structure: We usually pay a flat per-project rate based on the size and scope of the build. However, an hourly rate (with a Not-To-Exceed cap) can be negotiated if you prefer that structure. The payment listed on Indeed is just a placeholder, as we will finalize your specific rate based on your preferred payment model., * Contract / 1099
  • Remote
  • Hourly or per-project rate (negotiable based on experience)

A note on work volume: We're growing steadily and plan to keep you busy, but we want to be upfront - this is contract work, and there may occasionally be a slow month with little to no projects. We don't expect that to be the norm, but we'd rather you know going in than be caught off guard.

One more thing, and we mean it: We're a small operation and we care about who we work with. We're looking for someone who's honest, takes pride in their work, and treats people right - clients, teammates, even the guy at the gas station who's 47 cents short. We want to grow with our team, not replace them over time. Quantum Forge is built on simple values: good work, good people, good business. We're not complicated about it. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. If that sounds cheesy, we're probably not a good fit.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule

Application Question(s):

  • Since this role involves minimal hand-holding, you are your own final QA tester. Walk me through your exact checklist or process for reviewing a site before you hand it back to us and say, 'It is finished.'
  • Building 1-5 page static websites without frameworks is straightforward, but it can also be repetitive. What keeps you motivated to deliver clean, high-quality code on simpler projects rather than chasing complex software builds?
  • If you won $5 million in the lottery tomorrow and never strictly had to work again, what role would coding or web development play in your life, if any? (This is not a trick question, so please don't overthink this. We're just genuinely curious)
  • If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  • This is an ad-hoc 1099 contract role at $15/hour. Some months will have multiple projects; some months may have zero. Please confirm you understand this, and briefly explain why a fluctuating, ad-hoc workload fits your current situation.
  • We are open to paying either a flat per-project rate or hourly with a Not-To-Exceed (NTE) limit. Which structure do you prefer, and what is your target rate?
