Job description
The Network Specialist is responsible for the design, delivery, security, and performance of DaVita UK's network and core infrastructure. This role leads all network architecture, firewall design, and connectivity solutions across clinics and head office.
The role is critical in supporting NHS collaboration, DaVita EMR integrations, and domain/infrastructure migration programmes, ensuring all solutions are secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise standards.
Key Objectives
- Core IT Systems & Infrastructure Delivery
- Cyber Security, Compliance & Vulnerability Management
- Penetration Testing & Security Assurance
- Domain & Infrastructure Integration
- Network Infrastructure Upgrade (All Clinics)
- Infrastructure Standards for Future Clinics, Network Design & Engineering
- Lead the design and implementation of LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and firewall solutions
- Own firewall architecture, rule management, and network segmentation
- Deliver network upgrades across all clinics with minimal disruption
- Define and maintain network standards for existing and future sites
Integration & NHS Collaboration
- Act as network lead for all integration projects, including DaVita EMR connectivity
- Work closely with NHS IT teams to implement secure connectivity (e.g. HSCN, VPNs)
- Lead domain migration and infrastructure integration activities
- Ensure compliance with NHS and enterprise security standards
Cyber Security & Risk Management
- Implement and manage network security controls (firewalls, segmentation, access)
- Identify and mitigate network-related risks across all projects
- Support Cyber Essentials, DSPT, and security compliance requirements
- Address findings from vulnerability scans and penetration testing
Infrastructure Support (Escalation)
- Provide 2nd/3rd line support for complex network and infrastructure issues
- Support core technologies including Azure AD, endpoint management, and connectivity
- Monitor performance and ensure availability, capacity, and resilience
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Build strong relationships with:
- NHS IT teams
- DaVita International & Enterprise teams
- External vendors and service providers
- Act as a technical advisor on network and infrastructure decisions
Project Delivery
- Lead or support network and infrastructure projects end-to-end
- Ensure proper change control, documentation, and governance
- Deliver solutions aligned to business, clinical, and regulatory needs, * Leads network strategy and delivery across all clinics
- Enables secure NHS and EMR integration
- Drives infrastructure modernisation and scalability
- Ensures secure, compliant, and resilient network services
Requirements
Do you have a valid Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator Certification - Categories 3A & 3B certification?, Do you have experience in Network infrastructure?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 4-6+ years' experience in network/infrastructure engineering
- Strong knowledge of:
- Networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching)
- Firewalls and secure connectivity (VPNs)
- Experience in multi-site or enterprise environments
Preferred Skills
- Experience with NHS networks (HSCN) or healthcare environments
- Familiarity with EMR integrations
- Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, Network+, Azure
- Knowledge of Cyber Essentials / DSPT and Zero Trust principles
- Exposure to cloud networking (Azure/AWS), * Bachelor's (required), * Network & Infrastructure Engineering: 4 years (required)
- Working with NHS networks (HSCN) or healthcare environments: 4 years (required)
- Firewalls and Secure Connectivity : 4 years (required)
- Multi-site or Enterprise Environments: 4 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- CCNA/CCNP, Network+, Azure (preferred)
