Job description
Based in Cambridge this global Organisation with offices around the world are looking to recruit a Photonics lead along with a more Junior Photonics Engineer with a team accelerating the adoption of innovative photonic technologies into real-world products. The role involves photonic integrated circuits, nano- and micro-fabricated optics, nonlinear systems, and emerging fields such as quantum photonics, along with Optical Design, including the use of tools like Zemax.
The more Senior role involves photonics architect, leading multidisciplinary teams developing next-generation photonic and optoelectronic systems, delivering PICs and photonic systems, owning architecture from concept to validated hardware.
The more junior role will report to this Lead architect working on similar projects and technologies.
Requirements
The successful candidates will have excellent qualifications, PhD in Physics, Electronics or Semiconductor related technologies, along with:
Please note there is a high commercial competence along with technical knowledge for this position as speaking with clients will be part of the role. However other roles do exist with pure technical content. - Specification, design, fabrication/test and validation of complex PICs or photonic systems.
- Hands-on photonic design/simulation (Lumerical/Ansys/Synopsys or equivalent) and PIC layout (Synopsys/Luceda/Nazca).
- Engagement with photonics ecosystem (fabs, packaging, test).
- Deep knowledge of PIC platforms (SiPh/SiN/InP), integration methods and test strategies.
- Proven ability to lead engineers, make technical trade-offs and collaborate across disciplines.
