Job description

  • Maintaining databases through data input, keeping accurate records, and working to deadlines.
  • Managing agreed allocated funding by panels.
  • Preparing Pupil Placement Panels, documents, and agendas.
  • Answering enquires through emails and calls related to Fair Access.

You will be required to liaise with the Fair Access panel, schools, parents, admissions, and colleagues across Children's and Education Services, providing data and information, agendas, and advice., Additionally, the team are responsible for managing the West Sussex Fair Access Protocol (FAP), and the placement of any pupils who meet FAP criteria., In your cover letter please outline your motivations for applying and explaining the skills and experience you can bring to the role (please refer to the key skills) ensuring that any gaps in employment are covered in your CV. Requirements

Do you have experience in Microsoft Word?, We are looking for someone with organisation and administrative skills for maintaining data and records.

As the work may occasionally involve exposure to emotionally demanding subject matter, you will need personal resilience. You will also escalate matters to your manager for advice and guidance when required.

You will need attention to detail and accuracy in this clerical role, as well as the following:

Key Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including a professional telephone manner.

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word (or equivalents) for word-processing and spreadsheets.

  • Ability to deal with all types of people, including the public and education professionals.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to use own initiative when appropriate.

  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure on occasions.

  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team., * 5 GCSE's or equivalent (Grade C/4 or above) including English Language.

  • Computer qualification (e.g. ECLAT, ECDL) and/or relevant experience.

  • Significant experience in clerical or administrative work.

About the company

The West Sussex County Council Education and Skills department delivers the County Council's statutory and strategic duties in relation to education through working in partnership with other council services, school leaders, sponsors, Trusts, and Diocesan leads. The Fair Access Team sit within the wider SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and Inclusion Special Advisory Teaching Service, carrying out all statutory and strategic functions relating to children and young people who have been excluded from school, are at risk of exclusion, or have a health need which prevents them from attending school. The team ensures the County Council's functions, relating to exclusion from schools, are delivered and supported by stakeholders and independent providers. This ensures that West Sussex has a full range of alternative educational provision available to best support its learners.
