Our executive search firm is currently seeking a highly qualified candidate for the role of Senior Firmware Engineer for a prominent organization in the communications industry. The Senior Firmware Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing electronic circuitry and software for communication products and accessories. This role involves hands-on design and debugging of both analog and digital audio circuits, with a key emphasis on firmware design for microprocessor-controlled designs. The position encompasses the entire product lifecycle, from concept through production design, as well as providing technical support and making modifications to existing products., * Design, prototype, and evaluate the performance of analog and digital circuits to meet customer and internal specifications.
- Develop and document firmware for microprocessor-controlled designs.
- Specify and select electronic components for projects.
- Contribute to cost and schedule estimates for customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
- Generate schematics, Bill-of-Materials (BOMs), and provide guidance for PCB layout.
- Provide technical support to resolve field and production issues.
- Define product test requirements.
- Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Mechanical, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Sales.
- Maintain schematics, BOMs, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), drawings, and layouts.
- Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Embedded Software Engineering, including architecting product platforms and hands-on coding in the field of Consumer Electronic Product Development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (BSCS) or Electrical Engineering (BSEE); a Master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Embedded C and C++ programming languages.
- Understanding of Electrical Hardware, including the ability to read schematics, evaluate hardware-software tradeoffs, and write minimal code for early hardware.
- Experience with ST and Microchip Microprocessors and associated development tools.
- Proficiency in all phases of software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
- Familiarity with Revision Control and Bug Tracking Tools.
- Experience implementing Agile/Scrum software development cycles.
- Knowledge of designing Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Experience in designing Audio Signal Processing Algorithms is a plus.
- Experience with implementing Bluetooth and other wireless protocols is an advantage.
