Job description

The Head of Governance and Compliance will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and monitoring the complete governance framework across the organisation in both clinical and general settings. Working closely with senior leadership, clinical teams, and board members, you will ensure regulatory compliance, promote best practice, and drive a culture of continuous quality improvement.

This is an exciting opportunity for a healthcare professional with a strong governance background to influence service excellence within a specialist neurological care environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and delivery of the organisation's clinical governance strategy.

· Leading nonclinical governance frameworks, systems, and processes.

· Acting as a key advisor on governance, legislation, and best practice

· Oversee quality assurance, clinical effectiveness, patient safety, and risk management programmes.

· Monitor compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements, including standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other relevant bodies.

· Coordinate audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives.

· Analyse clinical incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns, and near misses to identify trends and learning opportunities.

· Develop and maintain governance policies, procedures, and reporting frameworks.

o Will ensure all policies within the site are reviewed and updated accordingly.

· Produce governance reports and quality dashboards for senior management and governance committees.

· Support clinical teams in implementing evidence-based practice and maintaining professional standards.

Requirements

Do you have experience in SQL?, · Registered healthcare professional (e.g., Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional, or equivalent professional registration).

· Significant experience in clinical governance, quality assurance, patient safety, or risk management within healthcare settings.

· Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and governance frameworks.

· Experience conducting audits, investigations, and quality improvement projects.

· Excellent analytical, organisational, and report-writing skills.

· Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

· Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and incident management processes.

· Proficiency in data analysis and quality reporting.
