Job description
PIE's mission is to build and maintain a secure, scalable, developer-friendly platform that empowers all engineering teams to move quickly and safely. The team is the horizontal foundation for all of Commure engineering - RCM, Air, and beyond - owning core infrastructure, developer experience, operational excellence, and the patterns and guardrails that keep a fast-moving organization safe.
The scope is the entire platform stack: traffic and networking, compute orchestration, datastores, multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) including active data center migrations, Infrastructure-as-Code, the full observability stack (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, on-call), and the developer experience from laptop to production - CI/CD, release workflows, and tooling.
You'll lead a small, senior, high-leverage team and grow it deliberately. That means staying close to the technology, making architectural calls alongside your engineers, and hiring exceptional people as the platform's surface area expands. You'll also shape how we build in the AI era - evolving our platform to power LLM-driven products and AI-assisted engineering workflows across the company.
What You'll Do
- Lead, coach, and grow the PIE team - a compact, senior group where your technical judgment and hands-on leadership directly shape outcomes. Hire and scale the team as platform scope grows.
- Own the platform roadmap across all pillars: cloud infrastructure, site reliability engineering, developer experience, intra-service security, and architecture standards.
- Drive our multi-cloud strategy (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data center migrations, with everything defined as Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Own the observability stack end to end - monitoring, alerting, tracing, on-call, and incident response - and establish SLO-driven reliability standards for service health across engineering.
- Raise the bar on developer experience: golden-path tooling, CI/CD pipelines, local development, and release workflows that make the right way the easy way.
- Partner with Security to embed cloud security posture management, RBAC, secrets management, and secure-by-default patterns into how every team builds.
- Serve as a force multiplier for product engineering - run lightweight architecture reviews, set conventions that create operating leverage, and triage cross-team infrastructure requests with urgency and rigor.
- Position the platform for the AI era - infrastructure for LLM-powered products and AI-accelerated development across the engineering org.
- Foster a strong culture of ownership, curiosity, and collaboration., If you're excited about building the platform that powers the future of healthcare - and leading the team every other engineer depends on - we'd love to hear from you!

Requirements
Do you have experience in Traffic engineering?, * 8-10+ years of experience developing software, with deep hands-on background in infrastructure, platform, or site reliability engineering.
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and growing senior engineers.
- Hands-on expertise across the platform stack: networking and traffic management, compute orchestration (Kubernetes), datastores, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar), and observability tooling.
- Expertise with modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure) and cloud-native architectures at scale.
- A track record of running platform teams as force multipliers - measured by the velocity, reliability, and adoption they create for other teams, not just the systems they ship.
- Proven technical leadership: you make architectural and strategic decisions that shape how an entire organization builds and deploys software, and you stay close enough to the code to make them well.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and present technical trade-offs to executive leadership.
- A passion for healthcare innovation and making a meaningful impact on patient care., * Experience leading multi-cloud environments and data center/cloud migrations.
- Experience building platforms for LLM-powered products or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance) with a focus on compliance and security (HIPAA, SOC 2).
- Experience scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments.
