Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Network and Infrastructure Engineer to lead and optimise our organisation's network infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network solutions to ensure high availability, security, and performance. Requirements

The ideal applicant will possess extensive knowledge of computer networking, network security, and system administration, with a focus on delivering robust network solutions across diverse platforms. The role is site based at our state of the art facility based in beautiful Pembrokeshire. ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement and maintain enterprise-level network architecture, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN) .Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of network services.Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across multiple environments.Configure and manage network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.Lead network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvement projects.Implement and support secure remote access solutions using VPN, IPsec, SSL/TLS, and SSH protocols.Implement and enforce network security best practices and policies. Manage network security measures such as firewall rules, IDS/IPS, encryption, and PKI to safeguard organisational data.Monitor network performance, capacity and security using appropriate tools, ;perform troubleshooting where necessary to improve network healthCollaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support business requirements.Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning related to network services.Conduct regular system updates, patch management, and configuration backups in accordance with best practices.Develop detailed documentation for network configurations, procedures, and disaster recovery plansProvide technical guidance and mentoring to junior network engineers.Participate in on-call support and incident response as required. ExperienceProven experience in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale networks within enterprise environments.Extensive knowledge of routing protocols and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS).Strong background in network security including experience with firewalls, VPNs, encryption standardsHands-on experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere or similar technologies; familiarity with containerisation is advantageous.Proficiency in operating systems including Windows Server.Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE , JNCIP or equivalent are highly regarded; familiarity with ITIL framework is beneficial.
