Job description
KMS Communications Ltd is looking for an experienced Telecoms / Data Centre Engineer to support an upcoming project involving the installation of Dell server infrastructure in Brussels, Belgium.
Although this role is listed as based in Warrington, it is a travelling field-based position. The successful engineer will be required to work on the road, attending technical project sites across the UK and Europe as required.
For the Brussels assignment, flights, hotel accommodation, and car hire will be covered.
Role Responsibilities
The engineer will be responsible for:
- Installing Dell servers into designated racks
- Racking, stacking, and securing server hardware
- Connecting power, network, fibre, and copper cabling
- Following installation documentation and site-specific work instructions
- Labelling, dressing, and managing cables to a professional standard
- Taking installation photos and completing basic handover documentation
- Working safely in line with site rules, RAMS, and company procedures
- Liaising with the project lead, remote support teams, and site contacts
- Representing KMS Communications professionally while working on client sites
Requirements
Do you have experience in Telecommunication?, Candidates should have experience with:
- Dell server installation or similar enterprise server hardware
- Data centre, telecoms, or network infrastructure environments
- Rack and stack activities
- Fibre and copper patching
- Patch panels, switches, routers, or associated network equipment
- Reading installation instructions, port maps, and cabling schedules
- Working independently on technical sites
- Travelling for project-based site work, The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong attention to detail
- High standards of cable management and workmanship
- Ability to follow technical instructions accurately
- Good communication skills
- Reliable and punctual approach to work
- Ability to work independently while providing regular updates
- Basic documentation and photo reporting capability
- Professional attitude when representing the company on site
Desirable
The following would be advantageous:
- Previous Dell, HPE, Cisco, Juniper, or data centre hardware experience
- Fibre handling and testing experience
- CSCS, ECS, VCA, or equivalent site safety certification
- Own basic hand tools and PPE
- Experience working across the UK or Europe
Project Details
This is a site-based engineering role supporting the deployment of Dell server equipment in Brussels. The work may suit a freelance telecoms engineer, data centre technician, network installation engineer, or field engineer with previous experience delivering high-standard infrastructure installations.
