Job description

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Technician to lead and maintain our food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in a USDA-inspected food manufacturing environment and possess strong knowledge of SQF certification requirements. This position is responsible for overseeing quality systems, food safety programs, regulatory compliance, employee training, and continuous improvement initiatives., * Manage and maintain the company's Food Safety and Quality Management System.

  • Serve as the primary contact for USDA inspection personnel and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and maintain SQF certification and ensure ongoing compliance with SQF requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and verify HACCP plans, prerequisite programs, and food safety procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits and coordinate third-party, customer, USDA, and regulatory audits.
  • Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Review product specifications, labels, formulations, and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA-FSIS regulations, GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and applicable food safety requirements.
  • Monitor environmental, microbiological, and product testing programs.
  • Train employees on food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and company policies.
  • Maintain quality records and prepare reports for management review.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, sanitation, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage quality staff and laboratory personnel, as applicable.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Team leadership?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 5 years of quality assurance experience in a USDA-inspected food manufacturing facility.
  • Experience managing USDA inspections and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and food safety systems.
  • Experience leading and maintaining SQF certification programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management documentation systems.

Preferred

  • SQF Practitioner certification.
  • HACCP certification.
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification.
  • Experience in meat, poultry, or further-processing operations.
  • Experience managing audit programs and regulatory inspections.
