Job description

This position is responsible for the design, configuration, and advanced support of the City's network infrastructure. Duties include maintaining network architecture, assisting with infrastructure upgrades, troubleshooting complex network issues, and providing technical guidance to infrastructure staff. The Senior Network Engineer supports the implementation of network improvements and works closely with the Assistant Director of IT - Infrastructure on planning, vendor coordination, and infrastructure initiatives.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Wireless network configuration?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in network operations.

  • 7-10 years' experience administering firewalls, switches and wireless controllers. Experience with OSPF and BGP routing protocols. Proficiency with Windows Operating Systems and Linux operating systems. Additional years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • Industry recognized certification equivalent to Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), will consider CCNA with extended experience progressing towards CCNP.
  • ITILv4 Foundations
  • Other industry certifications will be evaluated for relevance.
  • Valid Class C Driver License
  • Must be able to pass a standard background check, as well as a background check through the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and a drug screen.
