Job description

The Director of IT and Infrastructure is a strategic and hands-on technology leader

responsible for driving agility, scalability, and resilience across enterprise and production

environments. This role oversees the infrastructure that powers both internal IT systems

and customer-facing production applications ensuring the environment supports fast-

moving engineering workflows, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and secure,

high-availability operations.

Reporting to the Head of IT and Cybersecurity, this position partners closely with

Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Cloud Operations to modernize the company's hybrid

infrastructure, optimize automation pipelines, and enable faster innovation cycles without

compromising reliability or compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure and Operations Leadership

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of on-premise,

hybrid, and cloud infrastructure supporting enterprise systems and production

workloads

  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all core infrastructure services

including compute, storage, networking, and cloud environments

  • Oversee production operations with a focus on observability, scalability, and

proactive incident management

Agility and CI/CD Enablement

  • Drive adoption of DevOps and Agile practices across IT and infrastructure teams to

accelerate release cycles and reduce deployment friction

  • Partner with engineering and product teams to enable CI/CD pipelines, environment

provisioning, and automated testing frameworks

  • Establish infrastructure-as-code and configuration management standards (e.g.,

Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent) to ensure consistency and repeatability

Collaboration with Engineering

  • Serve as a bridge between IT and software engineering teams, ensuring

infrastructure decisions directly support developer velocity and reliability of

production systems

  • Partner with Engineering leadership to align infrastructure roadmaps with product

delivery timelines and technology evolution

  • Advocate for operational excellence by embedding observability, performance

tuning, and postmortem culture into the engineering process

Strategic Planning and Governance

  • Define and execute a multi-year infrastructure modernization roadmap that enables

agility, automation, and cost optimization across data centers and cloud platforms

  • Manage infrastructure lifecycle planning-including capacity, patching, upgrades,

and end-of-life management

  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and operational standards in coordination

with the Information Security team

Team and Vendor Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of system engineers, cloud administrators, and IT

operations specialists

Location: San Jose, California

  • Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement within the

infrastructure team

  • Manage relationships with key technology vendors, service providers, and support

partners to ensure value alignment and operational excellence

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field;

Master's preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or operations roles, with at least 5 years

in a leadership capacity

  • Proven experience building and supporting CI/CD environments in hybrid or multi-

cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Strong technical background in Linux/Windows systems, networking, cloud

platforms, and automation frameworks

  • Hands-on understanding of infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration (e.g.,

Kubernetes, Docker), monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), and DevOps

toolchains (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD)

  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional technical teams in fast-paced

engineering or SaaS environments

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; able to translate

technical issues into business outcomes

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience supporting production customer-facing environments in SaaS,

networking, or high-availability domains

  • Prior background working closely with software engineering and SRE teams to

improve agility and reliability

  • Knowledge of security frameworks, ITIL principles, and automation-first operations

  • Familiarity with FinOps or cloud cost management practices

  • Experience managing remote teams
