Job description
We have an immediate hire for an Entry Writer, Classification Specialist. In this role, you
will be responsible for preparing and processing customs entry documentation, ensuring
compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, and accurately classifying goods under the, prepare, and process customs entry documents while demonstrating advanced knowledge
of the overall import process and industry regulations.
The Entry Writer, Classification Specialist is also expected to build and maintain strong
client relationships and often serves as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts.
Candidates with a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation and/or a U.S. Customs
Broker License are strongly preferred
What You'll Do
- Prepare and process import entry documentation
- Classify products using US HTS codes/ and or client databases.
- Ensure duties are calculated and paid timely to Carmicheal International Service
- Review shipping documents for compliance and accuracy
- Coordinate with clients, truckers, terminals, and internal departments
- Communicate with U.S. Customs and other government agencies to resolve issues
- Handle post-entry work including PSCs and protests
- Maintain accurate records and support daily operation
Requirements
Do you have a valid Customs Broker License license?, Do you have experience in Customer communication?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of
PGA requirements and entry processing procedures.
This position goes beyond standard entry writing responsibilities, requiring the ability to
independently classify commodities without relying on a parts database and manage
complex accounts and commodities. The successful candidate will independently obtain, * High school diploma or GED required
- CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) and/or LCB (Licensed Customs Broker) preferred
Experience
- 2-3+ years of customs brokerage or import operations experience preferred
- Experience with entry classification and customs documentation processing
- Familiarity with CBP regulations and PGA requirements
Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and customs brokerage software systems
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Strong customer service and client relationship management abilities, * Do you have experience in Import customs brokerage, and/or entry classification?
- Have you worked with HTS codes or product classifications before?
- Are you comfortable classifying products using the HTS book and Commercial Invoice?
