Job description
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Software Development team. This role is responsible for the administration, performance, security, and reliability of our IBM i (AS/400) Db2 database environment. The successful candidate will work closely with software developers to design, optimize, and maintain databases that support our enterprise applications while ensuring data integrity, performance, and long-term scalability., * Administer, maintain, and optimize Db2 for i databases within an IBM i environment.
- Monitor database performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Manage database security, user access, and data integrity.
- Review database designs, table structures, indexes, and SQL code to ensure best practices and performance standards are met.
- Collaborate with developers throughout the software development lifecycle to provide guidance on database design, SQL optimization, and application performance.
- Support database migrations between development, testing, and production environments.
- Troubleshoot database issues, locking conflicts, and performance bottlenecks.
Requirements
Do you have experience in System tuning?, * 3+ years of experience administering relational databases in an IBM i (AS/400) environment.
- Strong knowledge of IBM i operating system and Db2 for i.
- Experience writing and optimizing SQL.
- Understanding of database design principles, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability solutions.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with database analysis and management tools such as X-Analysis or similar.
- Knowledge of DDL, DDS, stored procedures, triggers, and database security best practices.
- Experience supporting enterprise business applications.
