Job description

This role is ideal for an experienced network professional who wants more than just BAU support. You'll play a key role in maintaining and evolving a complex multi-site network environment, supporting core infrastructure that underpins real-world production services. From routing, switching, peering, and BGP through to resilience planning, incident response, and infrastructure improvement projects, you'll be heavily involved in both the day-to-day operation and long-term development of the network estate.

You'll work closely with senior leadership and technical teams, acting as a key escalation point while helping to drive standards, performance, and operational stability across the environment. The role offers the chance to work across carrier-grade networking, high-availability telecoms platforms, on-prem infrastructure, and network architecture, making it a strong move for someone looking to continue progressing into a broader infrastructure leadership or future CTO-level pathway.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in a Senior Network Engineer / Network Infrastructure Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer role
  • Proven background working within carrier-grade, ISP, telecoms, or highly available production network environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with BGP, routing, peering, failover, redundancy, and traffic engineering
  • Strong knowledge of MikroTik RouterOS and/or Juniper Junos
  • Experience supporting complex network infrastructure across multi-site environments
  • Strong understanding of switching, firewalls, WAN connectivity, IP networking, and routing policy management
  • Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting live production outages
  • Strong documentation skills across network diagrams, SOPs, technical processes, and infrastructure standards
  • Ability to work closely with senior stakeholders, technical teams, and wider operations functions
  • Telecoms, UC, or service provider experience would be highly desirable

Benefits & conditions

  • £80,000 - £100,000 Salary
  • Opportunity to work within a carrier-grade telecoms and infrastructure environment
  • Exposure to BGP, peering, RIPE, resilient multi-site networking, and high-availability telecoms services
  • Involvement in infrastructure upgrades, network optimisation, resilience planning, and strategic technical projects
  • Senior-level ownership within a business-critical networking environment
  • Clear progression pathway into Infrastructure Leadership / Head of Infrastructure / CTO
  • Hybrid working with Southampton office and data centre exposure
  • Annual performance bonus linked to uptime and operational KPIs
  • Private medical insurance
  • Company pension
  • 21 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + Birthday off
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • On-site parking
  • Company events, employee discounts, and additional office perks
