Job description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Testing Services the part-time Testing Specialist is responsible for assisting with the facilitation, implementation, coordination, and administration of the academic and college placement testing services provided by Testing Services. The Testing Specialist is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs, services, and facilitating activities that promote student success, degree completion and lifelong learning. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assist with the coordination of academic and placement testing operations of Testing Services, which includes inputting and monitoring the application of placement test information on student academic record.
  2. Assist in the coordination of all aspects of the Specialized Testing area and high-stakes testing in the center.
  3. Lead proctors in the distribution and collection of class specific assessment tools for MVCC and other college and university students.
  4. Monitor and measure the daily operations of the Placement Testing computer lab, which includes placement report accuracy, uploading of placement scores and technology functions by working closely with Information Technology.
  5. Track monthly status of placement test, TEAS, and professional assessment tools and recommend annual test purchases in a timely and efficient practice.
  6. Work with the Center of Disability Services staff to evaluate special testing accommodations for individual test takers in compliance with the American Disabilities Act.
  7. Maintain reports from various computer programs for data collection and cost and student use activities to support annual budget preparation and testing program evaluation.
  8. Collaborate with the SAT, ACCUPLACER, ALEKS, CLEP, and TEAS consultants.
  9. Conduct testing programs for state and professional certifications, i.e. Illinois State Board Certification for Basic Nursing.
  10. Demonstrate competence with all testing formats; Internet, computer and paper-based.
  11. Collaborate with the director of Testing Services to enhance the student success model base that is focused on effective and best practices in college placement, course, and professional testing that address the needs of students.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in liberal arts and sciences, business or a related field.. A minimum 1-2 years of work experience in higher education required; preferably in Testing., Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and some familiarity with computerized testing software, and other pertinent educational computer software. To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess experienced work skill knowledge in technology-based assessment tools. A qualified candidate demonstrates the ability to perform each essential duty with precision and timely performance.
