Job description

The Director of Operations & Innovation serves as the operational leader of the company.

This role is responsible for ensuring our properties, people, systems, technology, and processes operate efficiently while continuously identifying opportunities to improve performance.

The successful candidate is equally comfortable walking a commercial property, reviewing financial reports, implementing new software, creating standard operating procedures, and leading process improvements.

This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys building systems rather than simply maintaining them.

Primary Responsibilities

Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day property management operations
  • Coordinate maintenance and vendors
  • Ensure excellent tenant service
  • Improve operational efficiency across the portfolio

Technology & Innovation

  • Evaluate and implement new software platforms
  • Lead AI and automation initiatives
  • Improve workflows using technology
  • Integrate systems between accounting, leasing, communications, and document management
  • Identify repetitive work that can be automated or delegated

Leadership

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Manage virtual assistants and outsourced service providers
  • Create accountability through KPIs and dashboards
  • Coordinate weekly leadership meetings
  • Ensure projects move from idea to execution

Asset Management Support

  • Assist with lease renewals
  • Track occupancy and leasing activity
  • Coordinate property improvement projects
  • Help execute value-add initiatives

Financial Oversight

  • Report & Review operating budgets
  • Monitor property performance
  • Assist with reporting and financial analysis
  • Improve administrative processes

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years in property management, asset management, operations, or a related leadership role. Commercial Real Estate experience is a bonus.
  • Strong understanding of leases, CAM, tenant relations, and vendor management
  • Experience with property management software such as AppFolio, Buildium, Yardi, Rentvine, or similar
  • Strong financial literacy, including budgets, operating statements, and NOI
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
  • Comfortable learning and implementing AI tools and automation platforms
  • Experience leading remote teams or virtual assistants is a plus
