Job description
- Our program will provide PHP and IOP services for adults in a structured outpatient setting.
- We are looking for a part-time AMFT to support:
- Pre-admission screenings
- Assessment support
- Documentation
- Care coordination
- A few therapy groups per week
- This is a good fit for an associate-level clinician who wants:
- Flexible part-time clinical work
- Experience with assessments
- PHP / IOP programming experience
- Medi-Cal documentation experience
- Group facilitation experience, * The Part-Time AMFT Assessment & Group Therapist will support the admissions and clinical team.
- The main focus of the role is helping evaluate whether prospective clients are clinically appropriate for the program.
- This role may also support:
- Paid pre-enrollment screening
- Assessment-related services
- Care coordination
- Group coverage
- Intake support
- This is not meant to be a full caseload role at first.
- The goal is to have a flexible part-time therapist who can support assessments and help clinically as the program grows.
Responsibilities
- Assist with pre-admission screenings and assessment support
- Help evaluate client appropriateness for PHP / IOP level of care
- Gather clinical history and relevant documentation
- Support medical necessity documentation
- Help with requested status / pre-enrollment screening work as appropriate
- Coordinate with the Program Manager / Clinical Director on clinical fit and risk concerns
- Facilitate a few therapeutic groups per week as needed
- Provide documentation for all billable and non-billable client contacts as required
- Support warm handoffs and referral coordination when a client is not appropriate for the program
- Help with intake flow, client engagement, and follow-up
- Maintain a trauma-informed, professional, and client-centered approach
- Follow HIPAA, Medi-Cal, County, and program documentation requirements, * This position works under the supervision of the Program Manager / Clinical Director.
- Assessment work, documentation, and clinical recommendations will be reviewed according to program requirements and scope of practice.
Schedule
- Part-time position
- Estimated 10 to 15 hours per week to start
- Potential to increase hours as census grows
- Daytime availability preferred
- Some evening availability is a plus
- Expected start date: August 1 to August 15, 2026

Requirements
- Current California AMFT registration in good standing required
- ACSW or APCC candidates may also be considered
- Experience with any of the following preferred:
- Assessment
- Intake
- Crisis work
- Outpatient mental health
- Community mental health
- PHP / IOP
- Substance use or co-occurring disorders
- Comfortable speaking with prospective clients and families
- Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills
- Comfortable facilitating groups or willing to learn
- Reliable, responsive, and organized
- Able to work onsite in La Mesa, CA
- Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus, but not required
